There were IMO certain people/beings definitely influencing the Illuminati. And these were likely the Giza intelligences described by Meier and the Plejaren that also influenced Hitler and so many other worldly leaders and groups. These beings were removed from this planet in the latter part of the twentieth century and now, being in exile on a distant planet with no technology, can exert no influence whatsoever on the earth.

IMO the Illuminati is currently the proverbial chicken running around with its head cut off. It's ultimate power source has been erased but the organization is still functioning on its own auto and purely terrestrial mode now. Although their size is still large they just do not have the power they once had or the mad leadership.

Some of its prominent leaders have left and even turned up at Camelot with Bill and Kerry, so it has definitely lost its appeal, and power of control over its common terrestrial leadership. IMO it's now just another dinosaur on the way to extinction, though it still does possess great power and exerts considerable influence on worldly affairs.
