Post Protests in Washington & California Call for War's End

Protests in Washington, Virginina, California Call for War's End

By NAFEESA SYEED, Associated Press Writer – Sat Mar 21, 6:34 pm ET

WASHINGTON – Before war protesters ended their demonstration Saturday afternoon, several placed cardboard coffins in front of the offices of northern Virginia defense contractors such as KBR Inc. and Lockheed Martin Corp. as riot police stood by.

"Lockheed Martin you can't hide, we charge you with genocide!" they chanted as part of a demonstration that began in Washington to mark the sixth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
Arlington County, Va., authorities estimated there were 2,500 to 3,000 protesters.

Organizers from the ANSWER Coalition said more than 1,000 groups sponsored the protest to call for an end to the Iraq war. Carrying signs saying "We need jobs and schools, not war" and "Indict Bush," demonstrators beat drums and played trumpets as they marched from near the Lincoln Memorial past the Pentagon into Virginia.

I don't think that protests will ever accomplish anything.

They've been going on for how long and the wars are still at it.

Yeah there's just not enough people protesting! Instead of 2 or 3,000 we need 2 or 3 million at least, just to make a difference I think.

I agree Dan....problem is too many people still buy into the whole terriorism thing, & therefore justify the need to invade the so-called enemy. if these people were awake, then they would protest and we could see the end of wars.

TPTB want us to protest because it gives them ammunition to spy on us and label us as terrorists.

Protesting is just another form of groupthink.

If people gathered in the streets with solutions and started networking and actually started working towards the solution, drooping their daily life for a day, instead of bickering, something would get done.

But if it's a weekend thing, to go out and bicker with other people and get a sense of accomplishment out of it, then afterwords, you go back to your hypocritical routine and hope that other people hear what you've said and are going to change things for you, little is going to happen.
