Default Re: Sustainable Food Preservation

Ummm, you won't believe this, but they now make a dogfood that is fit for humans and it is dehydrated and it tastes great!! I love it!!! It costs $30 for 2kg, so I guess that is not cheap, but it is a complete food, almost like Pemmican. Tastes like a wheat germ granola with orange peel, and there is another one that tastes dull but contains a lot of beef.

I have to have my red meats so I better stock away some sausages (without nitrates or nitrites or other chemical preservatives).

Smoked meats are good.

Koreans are masters at preserving foods, and miso is healthy, plus I love their version of sour kraut (called kimchi).

I think dried beans last a long time and I hear they are great for the "A" blood groups. Kidney beans are great for the "B" blood groups. Adzuki beans seem best for the "O" blood groups.

At the asian market I purchase square sheets of roasted seaweed -- very nutritious and a nice salty substitute for empty calorie potato chips.
