Default Buying some wine? Spy cameras will be watching

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-watching.html

Big Brother CCTV cameras are to be fitted inside shops and supermarkets on the orders of the state to keep track on anybody buying alcohol.

A law is being quietly pushed through Parliament giving councils the power to order licensed premises to fit the surveillance cameras. Pubs will also be covered.

The footage of people innocently buying a bottle of wine in a shop or a pint of beer in a bar must be stored for at least 60 days, and be handed over to the police on demand.
Anyone buying alcohol - in pubs, shops and supermarkets - will be monitored by CCTV cameras
Critics say it will mean that citizens will now be tracked everywhere they go. The UK already has more than four million closed-circuit TV cameras covering the streets – the largest number in the world.

Cars are also automatically monitored using cameras that check registration plates. Now shops and pubs will also be covered.

HA, more problems tend to occur in parking lots than in the buildings themselves, I bet. At least, they do here in the US.

Advantages and disadvantages - the potential for abuse is obvious - but cameras mean there can be fewer police on the force. Which means less taxes to go to the police force, I guess.

Hi Antal, scary thread. Wonder when the mainstream is going to get a leader to drag them all out of this mess?

Will the mainstream realize they need one?

Aspartame, fluoride, monosodiumglutemate, GM foods..... no, actually after thinking about it the masses are probably too far aslumber to even raise an eyelid let alone an arm to the goings on in their little 'worlds'.

Unless of course it happens to crop up in a TV soap.

Hi Egg,Alys-the problem is the slumbering masses over here-They don't give a damn about what's implemented they are most probably welcoming it to feel safer!!!It's that true!!It gets me angry that the majority of people don't question anything-the furthest they get is asking why they feel ill and that's where it stops.Hoping that big pharma and their doctors will sort them out etc.The responsibility for their own lives is readily passed on to "experts" who know what's best.

Well, yes, they see the well publicized advantages - like the time that young boy was killed and the cameras caught the kiddos who perpetrated it, or the vids of the 7/7 train bombers, etc. They don't anticipate the problems that could occur if we really do go to 1984. And they won't see it until "too late," should that occur.

Have been watching Oz and James Drink to Britain, I think I heard TV's Oz Clarke cry a little bit. And I'm sure James May will carry an axe to chop the cameras off before he get's himself a pint.

I think the morons that run England have been reading "1984" a little too closely.

The book was a WARNING, not a SUGGESTION!

Freeky thread...unfortunately true. But its not just the cameras, everything is monitored, the state can tell you more about your habits already than you would want even your best friend to know. Mobile phone and internet are fully monitored for sure, and of course all bank, card activity. The other day i was leaving the Uk and a big dog jumped up at me as i was boarding the plane, i was taken to one side and asked if i had any "paper money" i was carrying. I said i had a small amount as i was flying to asia where you need cash as ATM's are often blocked. I was told that the new rule in the EU is you cant carry more than 10,000 euros out now without declaring it (not that i was carrying anything like that). An old chinese guy in front of me was practically knocked over by the dog as it jumped for his wallet in his jacket!! They are enforcing this new EU rule with sniffer dogs at the boarding gates!!

Ridiculous story Piers. What's the issue? The money is worthless paper anyway.

As for the cameras, what's up guys? If you live in London you're anyway used to 8 cameras across each shoulder.
"This land was made for you and me..." ...no wait...

i'm glad i live in the sticks. i like my privacy.
however, i'm beginning to think that, due to my participation in these and other forums, that they 'have my number' anyway.

Well, I see it this way. I've never done anything wrong that I couldn't apologise for. As long as I'm not feeling guilty, I suppose I'm hard to reach. Why? Just my instict.
On the other hand, with all the psi going around, everything can be known anyway, so I figure the best bet is to not stick out of the mass, yet be a radiant zone on yourself.

Then again, I'd love to beat the sh*t out of one of these cameras, I caught myself thinking today.

It will come to the point where we all wear masks and keep all our id in aluminium foil wallets so we can't be watched/scanned. It's ludicrous. Watch out for nano-vaccines tracking you!
Or we'll all suffer from agoraphobia. Pay cash for everything. Disappear.
Where the h*ll is this country going and why?
'Terrorist watch' in every village, on all modes of transport, in every educational establishment, eaterie, street, park, and even over your own garden.
Now in your own 'private' home via the digi-box/mobile/computer/wi-fi/refuse/utilities....
Probably even monitoring the sewerage for crying out loud.

Cool vid, C.

I agree that EVENTUALLY money will become worth less paper, but right now it isn't.

If you are in third world countries, you need small bills in hard currency because the ATM's and card machines don't work most of the time, and if they do, you're probably being scammed!! You need the cash. Under barter, travel will initially become impossible.

I got hit for £2000 on a scam a few years ago, using my Mastercard in asia in a very nic Italian restaurant. Gredat pasta, but £2,000 quid?? hehehe

Global barter is a not quite here yet.

As threatened, I'll squeeze you out for all that info because as I will travel soon, I won't be able to expend anything but manual labour. One backpack is the goal!

I dont understand what they are doing with all the details they are gathering about us, it's impossible for them to monitor us all, all the time as they dont have the man power to do so. They are even watching themselves as well.

One back pack is a maximum goal, trust me you should only buy one small back pack no bigger than 65Lt. You should pack it then unpack it and dump half of what you put in there.
I back packed around the world for a few years and used to watch in amazement at people with massive backpacks and another smaller one at the front.
You really don't need much at all, you will soon be selling or giving stuff away to lighten your pack

Even on business, I have ALWAYS travelled hand carry only. Its amazing how little you find you really need. Unless you are planning to do the red carpet at the Oscars.

I used to crack up watching weekenders heading out with three massive suitcases per couple!!

Okay, you seem to know your stuff. I will buy a one man tent and a sleeping bag... and hey... then they tell me you need a mattress to lay on, too. That's more that half a 65L already! Crikey! Now this time around I won't bring my laptop, but if I chose to in the future which I might, man, some clothes, the necessary stuff, some washing stuff and some food..... that's a full load. I mean, the goal is to be self sustained for a few days before buying food somewhere.
Then there is water and maybe a little stove....

Will you be at Avebury?
