The reason why the alien was attracted to communicate with the nurse was because the nurse was one of them in a previous incarnation. It seems to be one of those pre-planned birth arrangements meant to help direct earth evolution. The other interesting think is that the alien's body was synthetically created; they have the technology to create a body to "wrap" a soul in. This type of body is superior to the biological body. That's why she was able to survive the crash, and the other aliens, which was biological died in the crash. The alien "escaped" by terminating (leaving) the body before the military could drug it and the soul got back to her base where she was "re-bodied". She telepathically told the nurse she was fine after she escaped.
