Regardless of how I view gun laws, I will always think of guns as negative devices because they kill and maim. They do not accomplish anything positive, except for saving the lives of people, which can be done using methods other than weapons.

There are other ways to hunt and protect that don't involve using such a device. But, if you want to own and use a gun, be my guest. I will just respectfully disagree.

What the 2nd Amendment is for
Listen to this young woman tell legislators that the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is not to protect the right to hunt ducks. It's about protecting all of us from you guys!!! Armed citizens Gandhi and Jefferson liked the idea Hitler and Stalin hated it. You don't have to like guns to understand what the 2nd Amendment is for. New Calls for Assault-Gun Ban
MARCH 13, 2009 By ALEX ROTH, PAULO PRADA and COREY DADE Gun-control activists have renewed calls for the federal government to reinstate a ban on so-called assault weapons in the wake of Tuesday's deadly shooting rampage in Alabama. Stricter national gun-control laws face dim prospects in Washington, however, despite Democratic control of Congress and the White House. Gun sales have soared in the months since the presidential election, due in part to fears among gun owners that President Barack Obama intends to ban assault weapons, or guns that can fire rounds more quickly than standard weapons. In November, a record 1,529,635 background checks were performed on firearms sales, up 42% from the same period a year earlier, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A 24% year-over-year increase followed in December, with similar increases so far this year. Background checks are considered a measure of sales because they are required during any sale of a new weapon from a federally licensed retailer, or if a weapon is sold or reclaimed from a pawn shop. While Mr. Obama supports reinstating the assault-weapons ban, he also is confronting numerous other matters, such as the economy and health care. He also would face stiff opposition in Congress from his own party. In recent weeks, powerful Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), have expressed opposition to renewing the federal assault-weapons ban, which was enacted in 1994 under President Bill Clinton. The ban bars the sale of certain semiautomatic weapons. The law expired in 2004. Article continues: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/wire.php?view=3350 NEWS RELEASE Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms 12500 N.E. Tenth Place Bellevue, WA 98005 OBAMA LIED TO GUN OWNERS, SAYS CCRKBA; ATTACK PLAN REVEALED BY HOLDER For Immediate Release: February 26, 2009 Source: http://www.ccrkba.org/pub/rkba/press....gunowners.htm Website: http://www.ccrkba.org/ BELLEVUE, WA – As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama deliberately and repeatedly lied to America’s 90 million gun owners across the country when he insisted that he would not try to take away anyone’s firearms, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today. CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, reacting to yesterday’s remarks by Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder that the president will seek to reinstate the ban on semi-automatic firearms, said Obama “knew he was lying to the nation because his own website touted his plan to revive the gun ban and make it permanent.” “We warned America that Obama’s ‘support’ for the Second Amendment was empty rhetoric,” he stated, “and now Holder’s disclosure has confirmed it. Obama was lying, and now gun rights may be dying.” Several times on the campaign trail, Obama told voters “I’m not going to take your guns away.” He said it at rallies in Duryea, Pennsylvania and in Boise, Idaho. He also told a news conference that “Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear I think people can take me at my word.” “Right now,” said Gottlieb, “I wouldn’t take Obama’s word if he said it rains a lot in Seattle. Apparently, law-abiding gun owners have nothing to fear unless they own sport-utility rifles, semiautomatic shotguns, handguns and any other firearm that Obama and his anti-gun attorney general don’t like. “Thanks to Eric Holder, who has been far more honest than his boss about his anti-gun philosophy, it is now clear that the new president doesn’t support the Second Amendment at all,” he observed. “American gun owners should remind Democrats in Congress that the Second Amendment means what it says, especially when the president doesn’t.” With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States. The Citizens Committee can be reached by phone at (425) 454-4911, on the Internet at www.ccrkba.org or by email to InformationRequest@ccrkba.org. |

Gun Makers and Retailers Post Strong Sales Increases
By Natalie Zmuda Published: March 09, 2009 Sour Economy, Potential for Tightened Regulations Drive Buyers to Firearms Last paragraph: On the manufacturing side, publicly traded firearm manufacturers, such as Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co. are enjoying strong sales and relatively steadier stock prices. Smith & Wesson said aside from the 40% growth in pistol sales in its most recent quarter, tactical rifle sales soared 308%. Sturm, Ruger & Co. reported an 81% increase in firearms revenue. In a message on its website, Rock River Arms, which specializes in custom rifles and pistols, cites an "overwhelming increase in orders" in explaining why it can no longer provide estimated delivery dates, and notes that it is increasing production. Attention!! Due to new government regulations concerning the purchasing of surplus brass, we are removing sales of all 223 and all 308 until further notice. Below is a copy of the email we received from Government Liquidations. "Effective immediately DOD Surplus, LLC, will be implementing new requirements for mutilation of fired shell casings. The new DRMS requirement calls for DOD Surplus personnel to witness the mutilation of the property and sign the Certificate of Destruction. Mutilation of the property can be done at the DRMO, if permitted by the Government, or it may be mutilated at a site chosen by the buyer. Mutilation means that the property will be destroyed to the extent prevents its reuse or reconstruction. DOD Surplus personnel will determine when property has been sufficiently mutilated to meet the requirements of the Government. " This is a huge waste of taxpayer's money. The value of these products is reduced by 80% by going from a recycled product to a scrap product. CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN!!!!!!!!! http://georgia-arms.com/index.aspx |

Legislation to end access to handgun permits advances in House and Senate
By Richard Locker, Memphis Commercial Appeal Wednesday, March 18, 2009 NASHVILLE -- Bills to close public records on Tennessee handgun-carry permits inched closer to approval Wednesday after the bills' supporters tried but failed to close statistical data on the permits, too. Rep. Eddie Bass, D-Pulaski, House sponsor of the confidentiality bill, said he saw no benefit to the public release of statistical reports because it "could be used against" the permit program. An annual report by the state Department of Safety to the state legislature shows 624 permits were revoked or suspended in 2007 due to felony convictions, arrests and court orders of protection (usually sought by victims of domestic abuse). The report also shows that 605 permit applications were denied in 2007, while 48,991 were issued, pushing the total of carry permits to about 220,000 statewide. The bill that would close all public access to information identifying gun-carry licensees, including those charged with or convicted of gun crimes, advanced in House and Senate committees Wednesday, but with differences that must be resolved before it can become law. A message to citizens of the US, heed the warning from Australia and the UK:
Do not under any circumstances give up your guns. Blog at: http://www.chycho.com/?q=node/2231 Excerpt: “Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens”, which is exactly what Obama’s proposed gun ban will do. Gun bans will impact your “freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states’ rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment.” The current proposed gun-ban-list includes but is not limited to: Rifles (or copies or duplicates): M1 Carbine, Sturm Ruger Mini-14, AR-15, Bushmaster XM15, Armalite 15, AR-10, Thompson 1927, Thompson M1; AK, AKM, AKS, AK-47, AK-74, ARM, MAK90, NHM 90, NHM 91, SA 85, SA 93, VEPR; Olympic Arms PCR; AR70, Calico Liberty, Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU, Fabrique National FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FNC, Hi-Point20Carbine, HK-91, HK-93, HK-94, HK-PSG-1, Thompson 1927 Commando, Kel-Tec Sub Rifle; Saiga, SAR-8, SAR-4800, SKS with detachable magazine, SLG 95, SLR 95 or 96, Steyr AU, Tavor, Uzi, Galil and Uzi Sporter, Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle ( Galatz ). Pistols (or copies or duplicates): Calico M-110, MAC-10, MAC-11, or MPA3, Olympic Arms OA, TEC-9, TEC-DC9, TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10, Uzi. Shotguns (or copies or duplicates): Armscor 30 BG, SPAS 12 or LAW 12, Striker 12, Streetsweeper. Catch-all category (for anything missed or new designs): A semiautomatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine and has: (i) a folding or telescoping stock, (ii) a threaded barrel, (iii) a pistol grip (which includes ANYTHING that can serve as a grip, see below), (iv) a forward grip; or a barrel shroud. Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rim fire rifles). A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has: (i) a second pistol grip, (ii) a threaded barrel, (iii) a barrel shroud or (iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and (v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds. A semiautomatic shotgun with: (i) a folding or telescoping stock, (ii) a pistol grip (see definition below), (iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, and (iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder. Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits. Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.” Above link to blog found at: http://solari.com/blog/ Catherine Austin Fitts site. NRA: To See Where Gun Licensing Leads, Look To England Video (10:40): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkS2B...layer_embedded Tom Gersham's Gun Talk Radio Show Listen to Show, Articles, Photos Site: http://www.guntalk.com/site.php Obama secretly ends program that let pilots carry guns The Washington Times | March 17 2009 After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. No longer would unarmed pilots be defenseless as remorseless hijackers seized control of aircraft and rammed them into buildings. Now President Obama is quietly ending the federal firearms program, risking public safety on airlines in the name of an anti-gun ideology. The Obama administration this past week diverted some $2 million from the pilot training program to hire more supervisory staff, who will engage in field inspections of pilots. Link to article says Page Not Found: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...rogram-that-l/ Ok, here is a website that has pasted the article (I think this is all) to their page. After the September 11 attacks, commercial airline pilots were allowed to carry guns if they completed a federal-safety program. This looks like completely unnecessary harassment of the pilots. The 12,000 Federal Flight Deck Officers, the pilots who have been approved to carry guns, are reported to have the best behavior of any federal law enforcement agency. There are no cases where any of them has improperly brandished or used a gun. There are just a few cases where officers have improperly used their IDs. Fewer than one percent of the officers have any administrative actions brought against them and, we are told, virtually all of those cases “are trumped up.”... Since Mr. Obama's election, pilots have told us that the approval process for letting pilots carry guns on planes slowed significantly. Last week the problem went from bad to worse. Federal Flight Deck Officers - the pilots who have been approved to carry guns - indicate that the approval process has stalled out. Pilots cannot openly speak about the changing policies for fear of retaliation from the Transportation Security Administration. Pilots who act in any way that causes a “loss of confidence” in the armed pilot program risk criminal prosecution as well as their removal from the program. Despite these threats, pilots in the Federal Flight Deck Officers program have raised real concerns in multiple interviews. Arming pilots after Sept. 11 was nothing new. Until the early 1960s, American commercial passenger pilots on any flight carrying U.S. mail were required to carry handguns. Indeed, U.S. pilots were still allowed to carry guns until as recently as 1987. There are no records that any of these pilots (either military or commercial) ever causing any significant problems. Screening of airplane passengers is hardly perfect. While armed marshals are helpful, the program covers less than 3 percent of the flights out of Washington D.C.'s three airports and even fewer across the country. Sky marshals are costly and quit more often than other law-enforcement officers. Armed pilots are a cost-effective backup layer of security. Terrorists can only enter the cockpit through one narrow entrance, and armed pilots have some time to prepare themselves as hijackers penetrate the strengthened cockpit doors. With pilots, we have people who are willing to take on the burden of protecting the planes for free. About 70 percent of the pilots at major American carriers have military backgrounds. Frankly, as a matter of pure politics, we cannot understand what the administration is thinking. Nearly 40 House Democrats are in districts were the NRA is more popular than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. We can't find any independent poll in which the public is demanding that pilots disarm. Why does this move make sense? Only anti-gun extremists and terrorist recruits are worried about armed pilots. So why is the Obama administration catering to this tiny lobby at the expense of public safety? Good question! Website that posted information: http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/025312.php My goodness, at THE GLENN BECK 912 Project there are over 427 comments regarding this topic. Obama Positioning For Backdoor Gun Control
By Chuck Baldwin Published 04/29/09 On his recent trip to Central America, President Barack Obama did more than cozy up to Marxist dictators; he also signed onto an international treaty that could, in effect, be used as backdoor gun control. It appears that Obama wants to use international treaties to do what congressional legislation is not able to do: further restrict the right of the American people to keep and bear arms. Obama is using the oft-disproved contention that "90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States" as the stated basis of his support for the international treaty he is promoting. The treaty is formally known as the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials (CIFTA) treaty. The Bill Clinton administration signed the treaty back in 1997, but the U.S. Senate has never ratified the treaty. Obama intends to change that. To date, 33 nations in the western hemisphere have signed the treaty. The U.S. is one of four nations that have yet to ratify it. According to one senior Obama administration official, passing the treaty is a "high priority" for the President. Article continues: http://www.campaignforliberty.com/article.php?view=61 |

Shortages of ammo and gun accessories cropping up nationwide
April 20, 2009 By Anna M. Tinsley | The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Most days are like Christmas for Glen Furtardo. When he opens boxes sent to the Winchester Gallery gun store in east Fort Worth, he finds out what ammunition he'll have to stock his shelves with that day as demand for weapons and ammo soars. Reports of heavy sales at gun stores began around the time of Barack Obama's election as president, and months later, dealers are facing ammo shortages nationwide. "People are panicking and buying," said Furtardo, assistant manager. "The crime rate is high, and they are flat scared of what is going to happen in the next few years with the economy and the country. Manufacturers weren't prepared for this." Retailers and consumers say there may be several reasons gun stores are running out of ammunition – and the cost of what is available is rising. There's a widespread expectation that Obama's administration will follow through on a campaign promise to reimpose an assault weapons ban. Some people fear that taxes on ammunition, guns and other firearms-related materials might drastically increase, as they have on cigarettes. Administration officials and Democratic leaders in Congress began saying this month that while they hope to eventually change gun control policies, they will not push the assault weapons ban for now because they know how divisive that debate would be and they don't want to distract from other goals. 3 Articles From: G. Edward Griffin's website: http://www.realityzone.com/currentperiod.html
US: Supreme Court to hear crucial gun-rights case. The Court previously ruled that the 2nd Amendment guarantees citizens in Washington DC (which is federal property) to have personal firearms. Now the same question will be decided for citizens outside DC. Those who wrote the Constitution intended this right for citizens in all the states, but the collectivists who now control the government have different views. We will watch this carefully and report result. Yahoo News Posted 2010 Feb 27 (Cached) Supreme Court to hear gun-rights case that reaches beyond 2nd Amendment Fri Feb 26 As the high court's 2009-2010 term winds down, Yahoo! News will look at some key cases whose decisions have potential to impact the lives of everyday people. Nearly two years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Washington, D.C., handgun ban in a landmark ruling with a 5-4 vote. The decision in District of Columbia v. Heller held that the Second Amendment does indeed protect an individual’s right to gun ownership (although there are still limits).Yet that ruling did not settle the question once and for all. Why? Because the District is a federal enclave, subject to federal laws. The ruling, therefore, did not address whether the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments. Continues: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/ynews_ts1165 Colorado State University imposes gun ban, but County Sheriff James Alderden refuses to enforce it, will not book anyone into his jail for not complying, and will testify on their behalf in court. He says a gun ban would prevent students and teachers from defending themselves and make them easy targets for armed criminals who would ignore the ban. In America, the sheriff's power supersedes that of police. Alderden is an exemplary model for county sheriffs everywhere. The Gazette Posted 2010 Feb 27 (Cached) OUR VIEW: Sheriff says he'll undermine gun ban (vote in poll) February 23, 2010 6:10 PM The Colorado State University Board of Governors voted unanimously Tuesday to place students at both of its campuses in harm’s way with a sweeping weapons ban law-abiding citizens will obey and criminals will ignore. Larimer County Sheriff James Alderden, outraged by the ban, told The Gazette’s opinion department he will undermine it in the interest of student safety.
