The WOW! signal - what is it and why was it made public?

SETI have always been barking up the wrong tree lol they are looking up the wrong end of the spectrum. They should be looking for a high-energy intelligent pulse up in the UV and higher, not way down in radio... what are we going to find there? not an advanced civilization capable of interstellar travel.
I guess thats why some of the ET groups went with a more 'direct' approach but once again the PTB and the Media managed to convine people that 2 guys with some string and a plank were responsible

how stupid the public are to not take this more seriously;
