Hallo owners and moderators of projectavalon.
Forums are often a messy sometimes even dirty place, and they lose a lot of good information's because of the mass of texts and the weak structure of a forum. Quality text sink down in textflows and masses of "blabla" texts. And i noticed that you lose data of the forum (maybe forever? If you have a SQL backup of the forum before of the data loss, it is maybe possible to reconstruct the data.) I would like to suggest to use in addition to the forum, a Wiki software with NOT open write access. This would allow you to give to your personally known members a platform where they can write articles in a clean format. And you have discussions and Quality problems out of the Wiki, because people can write articles instead to respond on opinions. If you create a clean structure, it would be mach easier to find Quality information's from people you trust and know them personally. If in the forum somebody ask a interesting question, instead to respond in the forum, your autos can put a link to the Wiki article where they can respond in a general text. And maybe you have good texts in the forum you want to move in the Wiki to. I know the software http://www.dokuwiki.org/ (don't need any SQL! And offer a lot templates and plugins) and http://www.mediawiki.org/ (with SQL and the Software witch Wikipedia uses) good, and can recommend them. Search here for other Software if you are interested http://www.wikimatrix.org/ i believe strongly, this will save a lot of problems you may have now with your forum. Thanks, by |
