Re: 2012 Nexus-Sacred Places List
This would be a good site if open early AM
Puako Petroplyphs An area of large concentration is the Puakõ Petroglyph Archaeological Preserve, located just north of the Mauna Lani Resort. About 1,200 petroglyphs are in the section through which access is allowed. There are also petroglyphs scattered throughout the Mauna Lani Resort. The Muana Lani Hotel has a brochure and map and offers guided tours on the property with a Hawaiian historian. The largest concentration of petroglyphs in the Pacific lies within the 233-acre Puako Petroglyph Archaeological District. The 1 1/2-mile Malama Trail starts north of Mauna Lani Resort; take Highway 19 to the resort turnoff and drive toward the coast on North Kaniku Drive, which ends at a parking lot; the trailhead is marked by a sign and interpretive kiosk. Go in the early morning or late afternoon, when the temperature is cooler. A total of 3,000 designs have been identified, including paddlers, sails, marchers, dancers, and family groups, as well as dog, chicken, turtle, and deity symbols. View map of Mauna Lani Resort Petroglyph trail. The Royal Waikoloan Hotel at the Waikoloa Resort also has an in-house historian, and maintains a marked trail leading to petroglyphs adjacent to the resort. The King’s Shops offers a complimentary guided tour of the trail every Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Food Pavilion. http://www.letsgo-hawaii.com/petroglyphs/ map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...39911&t=h&z=15 Time zone: G-10

Re: 2012 Nexus-Sacred Places List
To all that would like to be Guides!!
This is a starting list of details to lead a group for meditations!! I will be posting soon the list of things participants should be bringing to make things easier for event hosts!! choose your site get info, directions, costs(If any for admission),find the nearest hospital & have emergency numbers-best to note to them that you are having a big event(More than 100 people-someone usually faints or sprains something!!) Help promote the event: e-mail others that are in area, put announcements on Myspace, etc.,contact meditation, yoga, martial arts centers, youth groups, healing centers, healthfood stores, organic farmers, etc that may be interested in participating.(I made post cards about the 2012 nexus with important site info for Avalon & Nexus website, etc. & will hand out to others) have sound equiptment-try it out before hand!! Figure out parking and appoint helpers to direct drop offs & parking and greeters with flyers for meditation & info of your site.(at least 4 helpers + you per 100 people)Expect people that have difficulties walking!!! Bring extra folding /camping chairs, blankets for those that forget theirs. Have bottled water on hand for at least 30-60 people -someone always forgets!!! Have an intro speech or special speaker to bring group to a focus before meditation Have an alternative to handle if weather is too sunny or too wet!!(Canopies-prepare for wind though!) Work out a group that can watch the children- do a set of coloring pages about your site-snacks- prepare singing/dancing/games to keep occupied- preferably some of the mother's in the group watch all others.(Believe it or not-that is probably how I am going to spend the meditation-good thing I can multi-task!!!) KEEP THE CHILDREN OUT OF SOUND REACH!! The children will FEEL the event and hopefully it will make a huge impact in seeing so many in meditation!! This is TRUE education!!! This is difficult- but doable!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Samarkis View Public Profile Send a private message to Samarkis Send email to Samarkis Visit Samarkis's homepage!
