For a bunch of people who are preaching positivity.. you sure are negative

Wow, yet another thread that bemoans our discussions about the anxiety we feel over the collapse of the global banking system, the rising tensions between the two most nuclear armed nations on the planet, the systematic attacks on our civil liberties by our own governments, etc. There is even the standard guy who calls anyone who wants to discuss such things "parasites" and looks forward to the day subscription fees for this site eliminate the regular contributions of many of us. There are several threads started just like this every week, and here we all are arguing again over over nothing - absolutely nothing.

Let's not forget the origins of this site either; a site spawned by the testimony of hard core researchers and new age sooth sayers who painted pictures of a present and possible futures that include alien abduction and experimentation, galactic wars, underground reptilian people eaters, shadow government plans for unbiased holocaust, choreographed warfare, nuclear winter, mass starvation, global pandemics, and list goes on and on. I'll even take you folks who believe that if we here don't think about such things, they won't happen. Have you watched the news or opened a newspaper lately? Have you seen your 401k or your parents' 401k drop by half or two thirds over the last two weeks? Have you seen the car bombs in Iraq and foods riots in Haiti? Have you noticed teenagers beating homeless guys to death for fun, or the rising rates of child abandonment in the U.S. and the Western world? The "wish it away" approach is not working - the nasty stuff posited by the "doom" crowd is manifesting right before our eyes.

And here is the rub: despite what some of you insinuate, it is not the "doom" crowds fault for merely thinking about it.

By your definition, I'm part of the "doom" crowd. I pray every day; ask the great power that spins the universe for global peace, and I often ask for smaller stuff - a hot meal for all the hungry kids on the planet, just for one night, to give them a little comfort in an increasingly uncomfortable world. I hope there is no war, no chaos. But to ignore that wars churn on, several of those kids I prayed for died last night because of malnutrition, and the slide toward chaos is increasing is philosophical and physical suicide. That some of us choose to acknowledge that life exists outside the "ohm circle," that there is much bad stuff going on out there, discuss it, try to figure out potentialities, and then try to figure out the best way to deal with it is only natural. I really resent you folks who accuse people like me of hoping for doom so that it fulfills some sort of chaos fantasy of mine - posts like that are childish pap than run 100% counter to the intent of this forum - to PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE. That you can't cope with the events that surround you and choose to live in a fantasy world of fairies, chants, and pretended elightenment does not make my attempts to make sense of the present and possible futures any less of a noble and intellectual activity.

Hopefully, I'll be there to feed you when your chant circle gets attacked by hungry gang-bangers and national storm-troopers.

I agree that we shoudl prepare for the future and most importantley just try to find a future.

I do not agree that we should be taking everything that the tv and newspapers are telling us, because their is a reason they want us to be afraid.

I am not going to count on you to feed me but I hope that you will be able to if I ever needed it. I think that alot of the people who are saying they are prepared... really have no idea what prepared would actually consist of. Actually I dont think that you or I or anybody else for that matter, who is not self sustaining RIGHT NOW is prepared.... and another question.... how are you going to save us from the gang banging national storm troopers? With your light saber?

This is a word for word quote from Sky News after announcing that currently the DOW is down 140 points and the FTSE is down 240 points. This follows the $700bn bailout in America, the £50bn bailout in the UK and the announcements of 0.5% interest rate cuts. Still the markets fall.

Given what everyone here knows about the financial system and how it works, does anyone think that the news channels are spreading doom and gloom? Or does it look like they continue to downplay the real situation for all they're worth?

Sorry Orion, but if the TV and newspapers had been honestly reporting what's been happening over the last two hundred years we wouldn't be in this situation.

I believe that they are downplaying the whole thing... their is still no reason to be afriaid..

I also never said that that they were honestly reporting anything... I said the opposite...

as someone else said.. just sit back and watch what is posted here.. it is unreal.

I understand we all like to be prepared, and learn as much as possible...as do I.....

but my god man...... how you deal with it will make all the difference in the world!

I started my quest for the truth when something terribly wrong happened.

Will it happen again?
Who's behind it?
Who's still at large?

When two skyscrapers got pulverized by particle weapons and resulted in the death of 3000 civilians, something is wrong.

When no national database exists to keep track of our missing children, something is wrong.

When those who were vacinated in S.F. started to develop AIDS, something is wrong.

Fear or no fear, I cannot put my head in the sand. I'd rather discuss what really happened and what will happen based on past events.
