Probably independent journalists wouldn't be very welcome at such an event. If any, journalists would be 'enbedded' & have to write exactly - & only - what's been dictated to them.

The internet is on the one hand a blessing, but for 'investigative journalists' it's not very satisfying to dig into a subject & not being able to get your article published & paid for by 'The Press Powers That Be'. Publishing on the www is still a matter of being really committed to a cause, because moneywise it often doesn't pay the rent. Actually there's only one magazine which contains well written & researched investigative journalism articles & that's Vanity Fair. |
