The key aspect of regeneration is that of dissolving the myths of scarcity and separateness that have for ages numbed the collective heart and stupefied the mind, leaving ego in control. To do this enables the heart to resume its proper function as soul-guide and lover, with mind and ego delighting to assume their valid roles as useful tools for spiritual evolution.

My vision for a family of man at peace with itself is based on the natural inclinations we all have for sharing, co-operating, and commingling with those we love. Embracing the realization of unity allows love for all others to blossom in our hearts, and when fear of scarcity is relinquished, sharing becomes a way of life. In that atmosphere life-enhancing systems of harmonious relationships evolve naturally. The turning point for each one of us is heartfelt gratitude for all that is, and willingness to accept all people as precious family members, valuing them as they are without prejudice or judgment. There are three simple steps that can lift each of us into the joyous atmosphere of freedom.

The first is willingness to Let Go of the self-righteous views of separateness.
The second is Appreciation and Thankfulness for all things.
The third is patient Trust in the process.

In my view, the chaotic conditions in the world today are similar to the dissolution and rearrangement that takes place in a cocoon while in the process of metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly, and it is well underway.

I haven't had time to read all the posts. I read OP and watched carefully the vids presented. They are great and thank you henners. I wanted to post a reply and I catched Carmen's post just before hitting reply. I agree with Carmen and it's exactly the point I wanted to make. Here's a vid making that point:
Quote:
Louix Dor Dempriey explains the true nature and function of the ego while debunking the generally-accepted notion that the ego needs to be destroyed. You will receive practical tools to help transform the distorted ego personality into one of unconditional love (otherwise known as "re-parenting" the ego), and learn what it means to be a "warrior" for self-purification as the means to restoring ones inherent divinity.
I don't know the story of the guy talking in the vid, but he tells it better than I would so I share it with you.

YouTube - Re-parenting the Ego
I don't know the story of the guy talking in the vid, but he tells it better than I would so I share it with you.
This video you posted, the fellow starts off by saying basically: ALL the masters, all the enlightened ones tell us that we must overcome the ego completely.

Then he says "I completely disagree with this".

So let's be clear here, he's telling you straight out, the truly enlightened masters, all of them, are saying the same thing: you are not your ego, you must be reborn to enter the consciousness of heaven, you cannot 'perfect' the illusion of separation which is the ego, you must take off the mask of the ego to access your pure divine Self. This is what "all" the great masters tell us.

Now he has a different opinion we see this. Essentially, his pitch is that it is not about surrendering the human ego, it is about perfecting it. You know, you don't do something right, then just fix it, purify the ego, make it better.

Now personally, I don't know anyone, not one person with a perfect ego. I know at church, in every relgion etc. they tell you basically to be the best you can be and to be perfect... but for some odd reason, NO ONE, ever in the history of the world, has managed to perfect their ego... instead, we live in a world where pretty much everybody is dysfunctional, including ourselves!

That is of course, except for the great masters that have walked this earth including two of the more obvious Jesus Christ (who constantly stressed the need to be reborn and have the eye single rather than the dualistic eye of the ego), and Gautama Buddha who stressed the reality of the consciousness of nirvana when we are in Oneness. Now, there are many many more masters, including for example Yogananda and Eckhart Tolle (whom I consider enlightened) who teach the path of surrendering the ego.

They teach the path of taking off the mask of the illusions of separation to be reborn into the reality of who you are beyond the illusions, beyond the human ego.

So the big question is, is the fellow who made this video right and all the masters wrong? Is the quest of life really to perfect the human ego? Is that who we really are is the human ego?

The great masters have always told us otherwise, but people with egos tend to disagree...

Choose this day whom you will serve... the ego, or the divine reality of who you are when you take off the ugly mask, the imperfect able mask that is the human ego. Consider, your true Self is pure and divine, always in the Now, always present and much more than the ego which is the collective illusions of separation and comparison.

In fairness, you don't really have to choose this very day.. but it is worth considering that the great masters knew what they were talking about and unenlightened humanity teaching unenlightened humanity on how to become enlightened might not be the best approach to enlightenment .

Here is another take on the ego...

http://dotsub.com/view/8ca87c4f-79d7...a-37123be1872c

Quote:
17:18 → 17:22

The intent was to teach the initiates the deeper meaning of these myths.
17:22 → 17:26

What became later termed as Lucifer, Satan, or the Devil
17:26 → 17:29

was representative of the Ego, which rivals The Lord,
17:30 → 17:32

the representative of the self.
17:33 → 17:37

The true self is the epicenter of a person’s entire being.
17:37 → 17:40

It is the total sum of everything that we are.
17:40 → 17:42

The false-ego on the other hand,
17:42 → 17:46

is the idea and concept we create about ourselves in the course of our lives,
17:46 → 17:51

which typically excludes any qualities we don’t want to accept about ourselves.
17:52 → 17:55

However, Humanity has been endowed with the freedom to choose
17:55 → 17:59

either to obey the true self, or to give in to the temptation
17:59 → 18:02

of the vanity and materialism of the false-ego.
18:03 → 18:06

This is the most notable trait that separate man from animal,
18:06 → 18:08

our freedom of choice.
18:08 → 18:11

The choice to follow our concepts and ideals
18:11 → 18:13

or our natural impulses.
18:13 → 18:17

The choice to sustain nature, or to destroy it.
18:18 → 18:22

This freedom of choice weighs on the faith of the entire organism that we call humanity.
18:24 → 18:27

Cancer begins with a group of cells within a community
18:27 → 18:30

that fail to communicate with the conscious signal of the organism.
18:31 → 18:35

Those cells begin to grow out of control and spread to other areas of the organism.
18:36 → 18:39

This very disease is evident in our world today.
18:39 → 18:44

The cancer upon our earth is the domination of our false-ego
18:44 → 18:46

and our divorce from nature.
18:47 → 18:51

Collectively, among every human, the cancer upon our Earth
18:51 → 18:56

is the domination of our false-ego and our divorce from nature.

22:35 → 22:39

Yet the psychic illness we endure due to the domination of our false-ego
22:39 → 22:41

is reflected in the collective.

34:54 → 34:56

This parasite, called our "false-ego"
34:56 → 34:59

requires a continuous flow of sustenance to survive.
35:00 → 35:05

Food, fuel, and any other form of sustenance is energy.
35:05 → 35:09

Human consciousness is an electromagnetic field of energy.
35:10 → 35:12

When this potential energy is utilized
35:12 → 35:17

it then releases kinetic energy, which is used to perpetuate the false-ego.

39:33 → 39:36

These are all facets of our false-ego.
39:37 → 39:40

They're the physical advent of our own sickness.
39:41 → 39:46

They require our conscious participation, our conscious energy to survive.
39:47 → 39:52

Because without our cooperation, without supplying them with the sustenance of complicity
39:52 → 39:53

they starve.
39:54 → 39:57

Their very nature depends on our desire to be ruled.
39:58 → 40:01

And a typical symptom of the illness among humanity today
40:02 → 40:04

is our continuous denial of our illness.
40:05 → 40:06

Repression
40:06 → 40:11

We consistently repress those qualities we choose not to accept about ourselves.
40:12 → 40:15

This is why it is so difficult to see the false-ego
40:15 → 40:17

and its multiple manifestations for what they truly are.
40:20 → 40:23

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious.
40:23 → 40:26

But it cannot survive treason from within.
40:27 → 40:30

This is the very nature of the false-ego,
40:30 → 40:34

it acts as a red herring to distract us from the freedom we truly have.
40:36 → 40:38

For this psychic parasite to survive,
40:38 → 40:42

it must supply us with a chemical that will cause us to remain dependent upon it.

44:07 → 44:10

Just remember that the false-ego has only one desire -
44:11 → 44:14

to become greater and more powerful than the true self.
44:15 → 44:18

This illness causes us to believe that we are separate from nature.
44:19 → 44:22

This is why we see such a rise in the dependency of technology.
44:23 → 44:27

This is why we see such little stewardship for the earth and the environment.
44:27 → 44:31

And this is why we see bigotry, racism, sexism,
44:31 → 44:35

and every other form of discrimination possible that leads to crime,
44:35 → 44:38

violence, wars, and eventually
44:38 → 44:40

the global destruction of the organism.
44:41 → 44:45

This endless state of fear, confusion and segregation our world seems to live in
44:45 → 44:49

is a symptom of the false-ego, creating a false threat.

1:00:38 → 1:00:42

Another agent of the false-ego bloodline was Hernando Cortes
1:00:42 → 1:00:46

who decimated the Aztec tribe and plundered their mineral resources.
1:00:47 → 1:00:51

This again was the case through Cortes's second cousin, Francisco Pizarro
1:00:51 → 1:00:53

who conquered the Incan empire in Peru.
1:00:54 → 1:00:59

These atrocities are seen throughout Africa, New Zealand, New Guinea, East Timor
1:00:59 → 1:01:01

and are still seen today in Canada.

1:08:23 → 1:08:28

This is the cornerstone of the entire illusion being built around us by the false-ego.
1:08:28 → 1:08:31

Money is said to be the root of all evil.
1:08:31 → 1:08:34

Yet it cannot be evil, because money is only a symbol.
1:08:35 → 1:08:38

Symbols carry only the faith of spirit of the observer
1:08:39 → 1:08:41

This means that the symbol of paper money...
1:08:42 → 1:08:44

Yet it cannot be evil, because money is only a symbol.
1:08:45 → 1:08:48

Symbols carry only the faith of spirit of the observer.
1:08:49 → 1:08:52

This means that the symbol of paper money evokes
1:08:53 → 1:08:56

and surfaces the evil intentions and inherent flaw of our false-ego.

1:14:35 → 1:14:39

When we begin to realize, "Hey wait a minute, maybe it's not alright
1:14:39 → 1:14:41

to inflict harm on any other living thing",
1:14:42 → 1:14:45

then the ego has to come up with more esoteric form of cruelty
1:14:45 → 1:14:48

to trick us into displaying the same form of self-hatred,
1:14:48 → 1:14:50

the same indignant attitude,
1:14:51 → 1:14:53

but just in another way and towards another group of people.

He's saying that what most masters call the ego encompasses too much in his opinion, because "there is a real and much needed ego which is the vehicule that the soul uses to act and manifest". Then he's saying that "the seperate ego-personality" is what needs to be stripped from the ego. No big deal. He's just saying most masters are not specific enough in their use of the term ego, because we might end up with a model where something would be missing.
