Can the use of such substances be regarded as Spiritual? Does the promotion of a potentially dangerous substance have a place in the Avalon forum? Mods? |

Substances like that open people up to new levels of awareness, therefore the powers that be will do everything they can to make them unavailable. The last thing they want is people questioning the reality they dictate. If we want a ban on the promotion of truly dangerous substances I suggest we start a campaign to make alcohol illegal. Check this out- I warn you all in advance the language is strong but the message is even stronger. http://video.google.nl/videosearch?q...sd&hl=nl&emb=0 Enjoy

I've tried myself on a few occasions. It was a little bit pricey when I bought it though. I believe it was either x5 or x10 and it was about 3 grams from what I can remember though. If anyone is thinking about trying it for the first time I suggest either be by yourself or a close friend (just so they can keep an eye out on you so you don't do anything stupid) and in a comfortable environment. And trust me when I say this, it is not, I repeat not, a party drug!
It's defiantly not your typical high, (i.e. marijuana). The effects, from what I can remember can pretty instantaneously when you take your first hit. -feeling high -disorientation -euphoria It felt like what I was feeling was, that all the images I was seeing with eye's was coming at me like a magnet effect. It's a pretty overwhelming sensation if your not prepared for it. I also had a kaleidoscope effect and everything was swirling all around me but unfortunately it only last 15-20 minutes if your lucky. I say try anything once just to experience it but its nothing REAL spectacular. |

I said this in the other thread but I will say it again.
The shamans say you are supposed to chew fresh Salvia leaves. Smoking it makes the plant spirit very angry. Having it smoked it in the past I can say I agree with the anger part. I have never tried chewing the leaves so I am not sure how that is. I hate to say this (hiccup), but this place is getting to me…I think I’m getting (hiccup) the fear. -- Dr. Gonzo |

I've tried Salvia on a few occasions, all of which being low strengths, and have never had any real effects. Each time it was smoked in a joint (wouldn't recommend)
I do believe that higher strengths may give you an OBE (eaten or bonged?), but I wouldn't recommend Salvia for a religeous experience. In my personal experience the most ''spiritual trips'' I have had have come from some form of magic mushroom. |

I appreciate ALL the replies...
I do not think I am going to try this stuff myself. I am just curious IF it is anything like a 'Regular OBE' (funny...Regular...haha). My days of doing things like that are far behind me... However, I can see a well grounded person that is very familier with OBEs trying this stuff to enhance their perceptions.... That would not be me. I am still a n00b at OBEs.

Really interesting post lock'N'load!
From my experience, Salvia magnifies our true fears - the ones we bury deep within our subconscious. These fears are then shown to us in the form of metaphor or symbolism. For me, the experience was about death and loss. I have tried Salvia a number of times - always chewing the leaves as per the Mazatec tradition. What I am starting to believe is that Salvia will not show us 'otherwords' or give a pure spiritual experience until we have overcome our fears. This is why most people who try Salvia always have a frightening experience. And that experience is always symbolical of their fears. Personally I feel Salvia is a very good tool to confront and overcome our Ego's. But then I haven't tried any other form of entheogen - so I cannot say it is 'better' or 'worse'. I do know however that the Salvia experience is completely unlike any other entheogenic substance. A whole load of information on Salvia Divinorum can be found on the excellent Erowid website: http://www.erowid.org/plants/salvia/salvia.shtml |
