Yes you are right in that there is a lot of story telling that purportes to be true but is actually fiction. The Dan Brown books dont claim to be fact just base upon possible fact.
Dr Hawkins books dont knock religion just point out briefly, that while the religion is based on truth it has wandered some way from the original message. Dr Hawkins books are mainly based on his own subjective experience.
Power vs Force is a great starting point.
