Default Nuts & Bolts... How to start a radiant zone community?

This question has probably been asked/posted before, but, with all the information here, I'm having a hard time finding what I need! (8^p...

I'm sure that there are MANY of us here who are at a loss as to where to start... Bill? Kerry? any advice, starting at the beginning? Should people wait until the military state is in full swing... should we be start a fund to purchase land?.... oh, my!

There are people, tradesmen and women, willing to SERVE communities, but, we need to establish them first...

I'm going to start a medicinal plants and essential oils 'recipe book' for download and printed copies for if and when the internet goes down... I could sure use some help with information collection. I'm going to have a section on brewing medicinal teas from native plants, a section for medicinal essential oils and dosages, a check list for things like bandages, tape, tweezers, antiseptics (things to stock up on)..etc.. I believe it is important that we have something like this in our first aid kits...

If you would like to help with this major endeavor, please let me know!

(kinda got off the track there, didn't I???)

Love and Joy to you!

First of all, one of the most important things to realize is that a community is made by the relationships between people, not by a physical location and its associated resources. While I would LOVE to go out and buy a chunk of land, that is just not a possibility now.

With that said, I have been wondering the same thing... Everyone seems to be waiting for someone else to step up to the plate and start organizing. So I gave up waiting for someone else to do it, and started doing it myself! Just this last hour I started a Yahoo group for a Texas ground crew. I sent out an invite to everyone that replied and showed interest on the Texas threads, and hopefully at least a few will join. I have also sent out requests for help from a few of the members. One really important part of having a community is that everyone participate in a way they know how. So hopefully with a little management and guidance I can get people to start participating. Eventually I would like to link up to other groups out there.

At this point I aiming to at least learn where everyone is- physically what town they are in, where they are spiritually, and what their feelings/attitudes are about the coming challenges. From that I would like to create a vision statement and a list of goals. At the very top of that list is establishing TRUST among members. This is very hard. If I have an onion, you have a potato and that guy over there has a carrot, I am sure everyone would like to feel they can get a bowl of the soup before they give up their one vegetable to a bunch of strangers!

One of the biggest problems we face is trying to straddle two paradigms at the same time. Like I said before, I would love to create a little community of homesteads somewhere... But before I start sharing my assets with people I would like to know I could trust them. Do I trust the guy buying the land to know what he is doing? If I want to pull out of the community, do I give up everything I have put in? Are there any criminal/creepoid types I don't want around my children? These are all very important issues. Until everything changes, we are always going to deal with these kinds of questions.

I think one of the bigger possibilities coming up is that of economic problems and internal displacement. Are your group members capable and willing to help support each other financially? Will you share that bag of rice hidden in the attic? If there is a catastrophe somewhere, are group members willing to allow other members to live in their homes until they can make other arrangements? These are the important first steps in creating a community.

Also, members need to be like-minded. We definitely need a variety of points of view, talents, and abilities, but we still must have a common general outlook. If your group is more new-age oriented, do you want that one evangelical Christian to come in and nag you about Jesus all day long?

This is my own personal belief on this issue, but I really feel strongly that there shouldn't be any kind of "application" process for admitting members. It may become obvious that a group really should be two, or that someone either belongs or would be more help somewhere else- but just because a couple wants to join and neither are physicists or physicians or healers or agriculture specialists doesn't mean they aren't valuable to the group. I feel really strongly that we need to get out of this kind of judgmental mode if we hope to create a better future.

I have been pouring over people's posts to find those who I'd most like to spend the rest of my life with.

And lucky me, I've found some. :-)

I've had the vision for quite a while, of a sustainable community. Making it a Radiant Zone sort of went unsaid, if only because I hadn't heard the term before.

Obviously, if you're the one gathering people, you want to be able to get along with them and work together with them synergistically. If it's up to someone else, let's hope you can trust that person. Ideally, it should be a group decision whether to invite someone to stay.

For instance if you have a few people and someone is invited to visit, and shows interest, it might be time for a meeting.

The bigger the community gets, the more difficult it will be for the 'Human resources department'. It would be nice to have a somewhat psychic astrologer for this assignment...

Now sure, a very few people or even a single person can become self-sufficient, even prosperous -- but then there's that oft-repeated phrase, "it takes a village". Trite, but possibly true.

I want to live in a place where old technology is kept alive, but where new tech is used as well. I don't want to have to do everything myself, but I'm willing to pitch in as needed. It would be nice if we produce more than we need, products to trade, especially in the initial stages when we are less than self-sufficient.

How does something like this happen unless ONE person has the land to build it on? Maybe there are other ways, and I guess we'll be looking for them...

...but I'd like to be that one person. I would promise to be as fair as I can manage, to the point of searching my depths for fairness -- and I would constantly be reminding myself that the Earth does not belong to us (so no part of it can really belong to one person). As Chief Seattle said, we belong to the Earth...

Don't worry about the land now. We are looking at two different sets of challenges- the short term for the coming months, and the long term for the coming years. What is happening now in the short term is going to determine who and how and where you are going to prepare for the long-term. Find your people first; get through these challenges first, and then you'll know who to stay with, who to work with, and how you want to establish yourselves.

You have to do your best , and hope it works out. Isn't that the case with any relationship? You can try to establish some way to resolve problems, screen the people in a fair way. Core common spiritual values should help the community stay together.

I think the safest approach is to let the universe work for you. By using the manifesting techniques written about elsewhere, you are allowing the universe to do the work and bring those souls who are best suited together to get things started.

This forum is probably one of the tools in the universes kit bag, but I bet there are many others.

However, if you insist on paddling your own canoe on the river of time, and want to actively search out people for your communities, then may I suggest looking for people that dont use the "I" word a lot. (Doh, I just disqualified myself )

"We" and "our" are the language that is necessary here.

Our job is to trust eachother. Each of us will contribute according to our abilities for the greater good of the group/tribe/community - this will require Love, for most of us I guess this is as likely as not meaning loving as we have never loved before.

Ego is certainly going need demotion in this new paradigm.

I agree -- sort of. Once a community exists, certainly there will be a lot more usage of 'we' and 'us'.

However at the moment I personally am expressing my opinion, my view, my take on things. Can't speak for everyone, so I speak for myself.

For now I am alone in my project. Once others join, it will become our project. We may not know how this will happen, but I intend to do my best.
