Default Health Ranger Commences Ecuadorian Botanical Refuge / Health Retreat

http://www.naturalnews.com/025910.html
Mike Adams:
It is time to go public with the official announcement of what I'm working on in Ecuador. On Friday, March 20, 2009 (the Spring Equinox), we officially initiated the construction of our Ecuadorian Botanical Refuge / Health Retreat located near Vilcabamba, Ecuador. There has been some speculation as to why I've moved to Ecuador, and this article answers those questions and describes the plans for the future.

A video journal that explains much of what you'll find in this article is already available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ1V...

Rumors are that I've "escaped" to Ecuador to avoid the collapse of America. That's not a bad plan, actually, but what I'm doing in Ecuador is far more interesting and important: We are creating a living seed bank of hundreds of medicinal plants (and superfoods) from all around the world. This living seed bank will keep these plants growing and evolving while making fresh fruits and herbs available to future visitors.

We already have hundreds of medicinal plant seeds here in Ecuador, with perhaps fifty varieties in the sprouting stage. Many medicines we are growing here have been banned in the United States by the tyrannical FDA which seeks to abolish medicinal knowledge and criminalize those who grow and use medicinal plants. For example, we're growing ma huang (ephedra), which has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for 5,000 years but is now banned in America thanks to the criminally-operated FDA.

In time, we will be able to invite visitors to come experience these medicinal plants for themselves. Visitors will be able to stay here for short visits (one week) or long visits (six months) and transform their own health through abundant natural living. With the guidance of an on-site naturopathic physician, visitors will be taught how to harvest medicinal plants and make their own natural medicines which they can bring back to the United States or other countries (as long as they don't call them "medicine," of course, since real medicine is illegal in the U.S.A.).

So our big picture goal here is to grow superfoods and natural medicines, save and share their seeds, and teach people about real food and real medicine through first-hand experience in this amazing healing environment. With the assistance of the proper naturopathic doctors, we will also welcome individuals with cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other degenerative diseases who wish to experience a self-healing transformation based on nutrition, clean living and potent medicinal herbs.

You might call it "natural medical tourism," except that this retreat offers real medicine from Mother Nature, not synthetic chemicals (pharmaceuticals) and dangerous surgical procedures. People heal themselves here. They are not "healed" by someone else.

The South American Vantage Point
South America is a great place to get back to reality. Living in cities in the United States is extremely toxic. I've done that for too long, experiencing the high-stress, fast-paced rat race environment where food comes in plastic packages and houses are built out of particle board and styrofoam. Like many people, I have sought out a life closer to Mother Nature.

This can be done in the United States, too, in places like Ashland, Oregon, Asheville, North Carolina, Hawaii, Colorado and any rural setting where you can get away from the big cities. Many informed people are currently in the process of setting up second homes out in the country (or even out OF the country), or moving their primary living space to such a place. People are doing this for lots of reasons.

The fragile food supply
One of the primary reasons is the recognition that the U.S. food supply is in serious danger. Food may seem abundant now, but with GM seeds entering the food supply, and monoculture practices dominating food production, and small organic farms under assault, it's only a matter of time before there is a food emergency. Being stuck in a city, dependant on the system for your food, is an uncomfortable thought for many. Supplementing your food supply with a garden, an orchard or even a seed sprouting machine in your own kitchen is a wise pursuit.

Some people are also concerned about the potential for infectious disease sweeping through the population centers of the world. If something like Avian Flu is unleashed into the human population (which almost happened two weeks ago thanks to Baxter contaminating vaccine material with live H5N1 viruses), the cities will quite quickly become death traps. Hospitals will be hubs of infection, and those who wish to survive such a pandemic will need to find a source of natural anti-viral medicines such as Traditional Chinese Medicines or western herbs (or even just plain old garlic).

Leaving the United States is not "escaping," but rather "solution building" from an important vantage point. It's hard to think about solutions for sustainable living if you're locked up in a FEMA camp. But from the vantage point of South America, you can join with a growing number of freedom-oriented think tanks that are sprouting up throughout the region here.

Dr. Brian O'Leary, for example, a former NASA astronaut, is hosting numerous think-tank solution groups from his Montesuenos retreat in Vilcabamba, Ecuador. (http://www.brianoleary.info)

Dr. O'Leary is the author of The Energy Solution Revolution, which presents real solutions for sustainable energy for the entire world. His upcoming events on May 8 and May 9 (which I will be attending, by the way), bring in world-class lecturers and visionaries on topics like quantum physics, reincarnation, after-death experiences and other areas worthy of exploration by those who are enlightened enough to ask new questions of the universe.

These types of events are quite characteristic of the kind of "big picture thinkers" who are currently attracted to the Vilcabamba area of South America. Norie and Richard have launched a Garden of Paradise community (http://www.brianoleary.info/Upcomin...) where sustainable living is married with free-form artistry to create a sustainable, organic community of artists and visionaries who are working together to develop new ideas for a better world.

All of us here are the kind of people who spend a considerable amount of time experimenting with ways to create a better world by relying on natural principles that are congruent with sustainable living and peaceful coexistence. We are not fleeing America; we are embracing the challenges of the world and using South America as a vantage point from which ideas and solutions can be explored without fear of arrest or imprisonment.

It is a sad commentary on America to realize that simply growing and sharing raw foods or medicinal plants is now a crime, and that real healers must either censor their own speech or leave the country to find real freedom. But this is the state of things today in America, and this is why those who seek to explore the nature of the universe without being oppressed (or imprisoned) are increasingly seeking out regions of the world where new ideas are welcomed rather than oppressed.

There is no question in my mind that America as we know it will collapse in the near future. The real question is: How can we create a better solution in the aftermath of that collapse? How can we move humankind forward in a way that finds a healthy balance with the world we inhabit? How can we promote real health, happiness and long-term thinking that considers the effects of today's decisions on the next seven generations?

These answers could come from anywhere, of course, but I firmly believe that they are most likely to come from those individuals and communities that are practicing sustainable living and revolutionary approaches to natural health outside the United States, free from being labeled criminals.

People like Peter Ragnar are exploring amazing solutions for longevity and natural living right in the United States (www.RoaringLionPublishing.com), but it is worth noting that even Peter will not venture into the toxic cities of America. He lives in a forest, surrounded by Mother Nature, eating wild foods and taking in the healing energies of the living environment. We are learning a lot from Peter, in fact, and applying it here in Ecuador.

Not doomsday, but rebirth!
Many people have expressed shock at my blatant descriptions of the fall of the American Empire, or the bursting of the human population bubble on planet Earth. One person even described my writing as "doomsday prophecy." I had to laugh at that!

The rise and fall of civilizations is not "doomsday prophecy" but rather a recognition of the natural cycles of the universe. To say that civilizations over-expand, and then are corrected through natural processes is merely an observation of natural law.

I'm no doomsday prophet. In fact, I'm a relentless optimist on the future of life on Earth. I have no doubt that small bands of human beings will find ways to live in harmony with the planet, in sustainable ways that honor the sacredness of nature. What I am vocally skeptical about is the future of the current human civilization, which is arguably a short-term fluke in the history of life on Earth. There is simply no question that the current population and food production cannot be sustained. This is true for many reasons too detailed to explain here, but the basics are: Fossil fuels, fossil water, topsoil and climate. Any intelligent look at these four factors will lead any reasonable person to conclude that the world is currently in the midst of a food bubble created by a fossil fuel bubble and a fossil water bubble, all of which will shortly collapse.

The future of humankind on planet Earth will see a drastic reduction in the current population and the rise of wiser, more "natural" communities that find ways to work with nature instead of against nature. It is obviously important that those who have the presence of mind to look honestly at the next 100 years of life on Earth begin exploring the kinds of solutions that will make future human civilization sustainable. Corporations and governments certainly have no interest in such endeavors (they are all fatalistic short-term thinkers and exploiters).

The importance of storing knowledge
There are many important elements in all this, such as storing the current world knowledge in some sort of global electronic library (which Google has begun to do). We also desperately need to record and keep alive the indigenous knowledge of plant wisdom possessed by various cultures throughout the world. This is precisely the kind of knowledge that the FTC and FDA are attempting to wipe off the face of the planet, much like the burning of the Library of Alexandria.

Many elements in the United States today are destroyers of knowledge and destroyers of the future. That's why their collapse is a positive advancement in the future of sustainable life on Earth. (We won't miss Monsanto, for example.)

Knowledge needs to be preserved. Heirloom seeds need to be preserved. Soils and forests need to be preserved if we hope to experience sustainable life on our planet. The era of Monsanto, ADM, DuPont, Big Pharma and the FDA is but a tiny blip of destruction on the timeline of human history. But in their short time in our world, they have managed to threaten the very future of life on Earth, which is why their passing will be an important milestone for all living creatures on our planet.

Do not feel pessimism in this time of destruction. Recognize the coming rebirth and renewal of new ideas for coexistence in our world. Prepare yourself for short-term chaos if you wish to be part of the future of life on Earth, or do nothing if you wish to be the last of your genetic ancestry. There is no judgment in either choice; just cause and effect.

You can be part of the future, or you can be part of the past. And you can choose either path from any place. You don't have to leave America (or another country) to survive the coming hard times. Just avoid the worst death zones (cities) and have some storable food, water and gold or silver on hand. That will serve you well, and in the aftermath of the fall of the American Empire, you will find yourself quite capable of joining in the conversation of how to co-create the future of human civilization on our planet.

The 2012 Mayan calendar, in my opinion, does not designate the end of the universe, but rather a new beginning. You can choose to be part of that new beginning by taking simple preparation steps right now. In fact, your participation is needed and welcomed! We are all part of this conversation of how to make sustainable human life work in harmony with the planet.

These are exciting times, indeed! At no time in human history have so many people stood as witnesses to such powerful transformations! And never before have people been connected in such intimate ways through the internet. You are alive in one of the most interesting times in the history of life on Earth, and things are about to get even MORE interesting in the years ahead! Open your eyes!
