Subjective Analysis: energy healing systems for analgesia
Conclusion: Reiki/Spiritual Healing techniques show some benefit
as an adjunct to traditional allopathic techniques Narrative: Subject slipped in wet grass September 1st falling with full body weight on left foot. A loud popping sound was heard followed by intense pain. After initial pain subsided subject returned to house, removed boot, and elevated foot. Subject is health care worker trained in allopathic medicine, and is also well versed in Reiki/Spiritual/Energy healing modalities and initiated these as well. Traditional allopathic treatment was elevation with heat after 24 hours; naproxyn sodium 550mg twice daily, and aspirin 81 mg every other day to decrease possibility of unwanted clotting. Two days later subject returned to work with assistance of cane and initiated 50mg prednisone taper over five days. After three weeks medical evaluation was done with xray. Based on narrative and oral history diagnosis was possible torn ligament in left leg. However, subsequent Xray evaluation revealed simple fracture of left distal fibula. Alignment was good and no intervention was required. Fracture boot was applied with followup in five weeks. At no point during the three weeks prior to medical intervention was narcotic analgesia required or sought, much to the suprise of the attending physcian. Whether this was due to subject's inherent pain thresold or energy healing intervention is open to debate. It is worth noting that subject reports improved pain control with application of energy healing techniques. This is not actual xray, just similar depiction found on internet |
