Question WHO Owns Colorado's Rainwater?

WHO Owns Colorado's Rainwater?

Environmentalists and others like to gather it in containers for use in drier times. But state law says it belongs to those who bought the rights to waterways.

My insert: (LOST and Found: Senate Moves Toward Ratification of U.N.'s 'Law of the Sea Treaty' (water rights): http://projectavalon.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12055)

Reporting from Denver -- Every time it rains here, Kris Holstrom knowingly breaks the law.

Holstrom's violation is the fancifully painted 55-gallon buckets underneath the gutters of her farmhouse on a mesa 15 miles from the resort town of Telluride. The barrels catch rain and snowmelt, which Holstrom uses to irrigate the small vegetable garden she and her husband maintain.

But according to the state of Colorado, the rain that falls on Holstrom's property is not hers to keep. It should be allowed to fall to the ground and flow unimpeded into surrounding creeks and streams, the law states, to become the property of farmers, ranchers, developers and water agencies that have bought the rights to those waterways.

California, and they own Northern Az rainwater that drains into the Colorado river. At least that was the case 9 years ago.

No one is allowed to even catch rain in a bucket,its rediculous.

Same issue in Washington state. Don't know if they will prosecute it or not, but by law, rainwater does not belong to the homeowner whose land it falls on. This might well be a good reason for underground tanks vs rainwater barrels. JMHO

File a Notice of Intent and a Claim of Right with the local State and federal Governments give them 10 days to respond if they don`t their silence will be your right to collect the rainwater as you see fit . The U.N. operates under U.C.C. or commerce law as opposed to civil or common law

UCC= Maritime Law
civil = Law of the Land
