Default Time to Roll Up Your Sleeves

Alan Watt has noted on his websites and in his radio talk of June 23, 2009 that a letter has gone out from President Barack Obama to some in the U.S.

Here's the letter:

Dear Friend,

Last week, I announced United We Serve – a nationwide call to service challenging you and all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America.

And when I say “all,” I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across the country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.

Today, for the official kick off of United We Serve, members of my administration have fanned out across America to participate in service events and encourage all Americans to join them.

The First Lady is rolling up her sleeves and getting to work too. But before she headed out today, she asked me to share this message with you.

Our nation faces some of the greatest challenges it has in generations and we know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get us back on track.

While Michelle and I are calling on every American to participate in United We Serve, the call to service doesn’t end this fall. We need to stay involved in our towns and communities for a long time to come. After all, America’s new foundation will be built one neighborhood at a time – and that starts with you.

Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Volunteer to be part of building a new foundation for America huh?
OK, I guess I could volunteer to help paint the outsides, and mow the 3 foot tall grass around all these empty foreclosed houses in the neighborhood.

Then I can volunteer to maybe pass out bottles of water to the "around the block" unemployment lines, because it's hot out!

Then I can help feed all the homeless in the soup kitchens around the area.

Oh and I can do all of that right after I finish my own bankruptcy and foreclosure and job searching, LOL

For a smart guy, Obama sure is an idiot!

I guess push is going to change to shove soon.

My understanding is that this is compulsory voluntary service, which of course is an oxymoron...

Is that what the rest of you have heard? This is not going to be voluntary, it's compulsory?

I'm wondering if any of these bankers and financial gurus that cleaned up during the financial collapse are going to volunteer and "roll up their sleves"...hmmmm what was I thinking.

Has Obama told the American people what the new America will look like? Has he got a vision in which to inspire the people, if he wants them to volunteer?

If not, he is peeing in the wind

Alan also mentioned in his June 23 talk that Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) historian Carroll Quigley wrote that the new system brought in is to be like feudalism...

Dear Members,

Please help me piece together some facts.

Are there two pieces of legislation involved with this?

1. National Service Corps Bill
2. Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act

Here is an excerpt of a blog article about the second one...

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

House Passes Hitler Youth Bill

Obama promised during the campaign to create a Socialist National Civilian Security Force similar to what they have in other Marxist regimes. Yesterday, the US House took the first step in organizing Dear Leader's dream youth service corp.

German youth praising Hitler

The House passed the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act yesterday. The bill includes language indicating young people will be forced to participate in mandatory national service programs. The bill also states that "service learning" will be a mandatory part of the youth curriculum. That doesn't sound much like "volunteerism" does it?...

_______________________________________________

Please post any corrections or additions you have. I want to establish how many bills we're talking about. And I want to be able to identify the language in bills that points to mandatory service.

Correct me if I am wrong. The thread linked to is about the "National Service Corps Bill."

And I guess this is what the President is referring to in the letter by saying "...United We Serve – a nationwide call to service..."

In addition, there is the "Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act," which may have "...language indicating young people will be forced to participate in mandatory national service programs..."

Is anyone particularly familiar with this bill? Can you point to the language in question?

I don't believe this legislation calls for mandatory service. The linked blog article above quoted another article that stated:

"Under section 6140 of the bill, entitled 'Duties,' in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate, 'Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed...'"

So the legislation only says that a commission would be set up to investigate a mandatory service requirement. To me it's not mandatory...yet.

Also, I can't find a section 6104 subsection B6 in the bill. (Although the article stating that information was dated 3/19/09 and was written after the House passed it. Since then the legislation became law when the President signed it on 4/21/09 according to this link:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1388

Here's the full text of the final bill:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill...bill=h111-1388

The article quoted in the blog article also mentions a Senate bill: the Serve America Act (S. 277). It evidently is pending:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-277

Anyone know anything about this one?

The language got stripped from H.R. 1388 and was added to H.R. 1444, The Congressional Commission on Service Act, which is pending. Here's the language, which is in section 4 (b) 6:

(6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

Here's the a link to the full text of the bill:

I think now that the "National Service Corps Bill" is a generic term and not a specific piece of legislation, because a NY Times blog article by Kate Phillips references the name in the title to the article ("National Service Corps Bill..."), and it in turn links to another NY Times article entitled "House Passes Expansion of Programs for Service," which is about the GIVE Act, the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, not an act called the "National Service Corps Bill." (I guess another clue is the use of the word "bill." The official name would say "act.")

Anyway, this article says that an almost identical Senate version of the act called the Serve America Act was slated to be adopted the following week. This was back in March. I see the last activity for S. 277 Serve America Act was also back in March.

Since the GIVE Act (clever that the name of the bill forms this acronym) has become law, I guess the Senate version will simply be designated as "dead" at some point. I will continue to track it.

Here are a bunch of programs that I see in the Congressional Research Service (an arm of the library of Congress) Summary of the GIVE Act, as shown on the GovTrack website:
  • Learn and Servie
  • AmeriCorps
  • National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC)
  • VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)
  • National Senior Service Corps
  • ServeAmerica Fellowships program
  • Silver Scholarship Grant Program
  • Encore Fellowships program
  • National Service Reserve Corps
  • Social Innovation Fund grant program
  • Volunteer Generation Fund program
  • National Senior Volunteer Corps (Senior Corps) *
  • Retired and Senior Volunteer program (RSVP)
  • Foster Grandparent program
  • Senior Companion program
  • National Volunteer Antipoverty Programs
  • Literacy Challenge Grant programs

    * I noticed that the word "Volunteer" was changed to "Service" in an amendment designated in Title II, Subtitle B, Section 2201: new name National Senior Service Corps (NSSC). This is a hint to me that maybe volunteer programs are changing to mandatory programs with the word "service" designating mandatory.

A bill entitled "The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, an Act to reauthorize and reform the national service laws."

screw these 'laws'.

imho
they do not apply to "us"
they are not even real, true laws,
they are all just made up bs created by crooks to control "us".

don't accept it.
they write these "laws"
in their own effing language
that most people cant even comprehend.

how can a made up "law" (by crooks, remember) lol
be applied to people who dont even understand it?

this is all bs.
control
control
control

it is not even real
it is not true

these are not "laws",
these people have no idea what the true laws are.
the actual Laws that dictate everything,...
the universe... the same thing we are a part of,
we do not have to be "a part" of this false society
but we can take it "apart", and make it what it should be..
you people know what that is. .. i know you do..
and i love you for that. lol

if more people would realize this somethin like.. " hey wait a minute, we dont have to live like this, why are we doing this? lets live how we should, without people telling us what to do "......

i think a realization like that will make many people Rise.

(ohhh man.... did i jus go on a "rant"??)
now i look back at my words, and i am in an "elavated" state atm..
my apologies
if this is unacceptable.
i dont even know if i should post it....
but im gonna.
lol

(9ooh yea.... also.... i am not against volunteer work, i volunteer often....
im not against communities helping each other..... but dont we all realize?.... that we can do that without "the man" standing behind us with a stick.?!?

isnt all we want... is to live, and help each other?
there are soooo many of us......
if we all wanted to help each other,
noone would go without.

is that a hard realization for most folks in the world?

imho.. I dont think so.

i think.. well.. i 'know',
that all of us on this planet..
want the same things,
to live with each other in peace, and equality.
there is no need for someone to write something on paper, and say, HERE< YOU HAVE TO DO THIS< ITS THE LAW!

say what?
whos law?
yours?
who the ef are you?

we know waht we all need to live, and prosper,
and we are perfectly capable of it.
we know this.

this paper money that is making people lose their homes,
and everything they have worked their @$$e$ off for for many years.

this is exactly what this bs paper money was made for.
these b$ laws as well.

made to control everything people do,
so "without "us" (them)
you cant survive.

ok, so.. if we dont accept your fals b$,
we cannot thrive?
we cannot live on our own,
without you up our @$$e$?????

well EFFF that my friends.
dont accept this $h!t.

it is garbage made to control us.

if we have each other....
and everyone treats everyone as equals,
as we truly are, we can live and thrive
if we raise our fr3qu3nci3s above this primitive style of control....
we can live without these criminals in our lives.

i know it'

dang, sorry again about this post......
prolly dont even make sense.....
but to me it makes perfect sense.
go figure, im a 'lunatic' as ive been told.. LOL

i do capture photons from moonbeams most nights
that could contribute to my 'lunacy' i guess. lol

sorry again,
maybe i; delete this later if i feel like a real geek when i read it agin... lol
but i do hope somethin made sense... lol.. doh.

eye love yous.

well, many have it figured out..
waayyy too many for this b$ to continue much longer.

bypass them,
make them irrelevant....
