Guns- protecting your family/property
I think that guns are a tool of evil, but may be nescessary to protect oneself and their family, especially if there is a disaster or massive economic collapse. Also, they may prove vital to survival if you are forced to hunt for game (if you're the typr of person to do so).
I think having a rifle (long range), shotgun (short range), and pistol (personal protection) as a nescessity if you live in a area where people may find you. If nothing else, people will be less likely to mess with you if they know you're armed. If you are prepared for the future and others aren't, when it hits the fan and if they find out- someone WILL try to take what you have. I don't think any piece of property is worth taking a life, unless theft that property will compromise a life. I'd like your views on this issue... Last edited by 371; 09-17-2008 at 03:56 PM. |

Re: Guns- protecting your family/property
Feel remorse for the life you must end to sustain your own. (Hunting)
Feel regret for those you must cease, and their efforts to do such to you. Think of a gun as a TOOL and not a weapon, offensive OR defensive. If it comes to the use of a gun, ammo manufacturing will likely be out of commission, use ammo VERY sparingly, you're better of depending on bow and arrow for hunting, even defending family. In the spirit of (Radiant Zone) humane values, I personally would rather share what I have with those who live in this collaborative community. I would rather starve together than take another's life with force just to sustain my own life. Each one must confront this moral "dilemma" in planning for survival of the coming chaos.

Re: Guns- protecting your family/property
Hi, Folks:
I suggest the best way to approach this is as described by many Martial Arts masters, in various ways over the centuries. It's as applicable now as it was in China 3,000 years ago. [my paraphrase] * If you use your weapon, then you've already lost the fight. * A real warrior is a peacemaker... and always knows when to walk away. And, from Gandhi: * Be the change you want to see in the world. For the record, these are our values at Projects Camelot and Avalon and are shared by thousands of people who write to us. We don't want to curtail any intelligent and informed discussion and there's no implied criticism of anyone here. But the above is my $.02 worth. Very best to all, Bill |

Wise words Bill...
Another quote come to mind "The greatest Samurai lets his sword rust in his scabbard". But he DOES have a sword, and employs tact instead of fist. Very good points. |

Hi guys
We already have an ongoing discussion on this subject here: http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/s...highlight=guns So rather than have any useful information segmented across two threads can you please use the other one & I'll close this one. Thanks |
