Default Living your life as if every moment was the last one..

Living every moment of your life as if it was the last one is a great teacher to the soul.

If this was your last chance to express your Light and your Love to your fellow brothers and sisters , to mother Earth and all of creation, what would you do ? How would you do it ?

Think of this for a moment…

And what if all the chaos and turmoil which is happening on Earth right now was just meant to drive home this last lesson of finding who you really are and then BE it with such an intensity that you’ll only be left with you as a shining Heart, a Golden soul ?

When the time of death comes some people wake up to their best:

Farewell letter of Gabriel Garcia Marquez
This is something he wrote to his friends as he was dying from cancer.

The Puppet
If for a moment God would forget that I am a rag doll and give me a scrap of life, possibly I would not say everything that I think, but I would definitely think everything that I say.

I would value things not for how much they are worth but rather for what they mean.

I would sleep little, dream more. I know that for each minute that we close our eyes we lose sixty seconds of light.

I would walk when the others loiter; I would awaken when the others sleep.

I would listen when the others speak, and how I would enjoy a good chocolate ice cream.

If God would bestow on me a scrap of life, I would dress simply, I would throw myself flat under the sun, exposing not only my body but also my soul.

My God, if I had a heart, I would write my hatred on ice and wait for the sun to come out. With a dream of Van Gogh I would paint on the stars a poem by Benedetti, and a song by Serrat would be my serenade to the moon.

With my tears I would water the roses, to feel the pain of their thorns and the incarnated kiss of their petals...My God, if I only had a scrap of life...

I wouldn't let a single day go by without saying to people I love, that I love them.

I would convince each woman or man that they are my favourites and I would live in love with love.

I would prove to the men how mistaken they are in thinking that they no longer fall in love when they grow old--not knowing that they grow old when they stop falling in love. To a child I would give wings, but I would let him learn how to fly by himself. To the old I would teach that death comes not with old age but with forgetting. I have learned so much from you men....

I have learned that everybody wants to live at the top of the mountain without realizing that true happiness lies in the way we climb the slope.

I have learned that when a newborn first squeezes his father's finger in his tiny fist, he has caught him forever.

I have learned that a man only has the right to look down on another man when it is to help him to stand up. I have learned so many things from you, but in the end most of it will be no use because when they put me inside that suitcase, unfortunately I will be dying.

translated by Matthew Taylor and Rosa Arelis Taylor

Unlike what Gabriel Marcia Marquez thought all things he learned here on Earth on his awakening made all the difference.
For when one dies only our bodies pass away and all we are left with is our consciousness as souls.
The choices we make at any single moment do count. They build walls between us and the world or bridges into the Light.

So let's pretend tis is our last day and fill every moment of it with our very best.

Practice this for a while and let me know if this does make a difference into your life ?

Just dare being yourself
Just dare being who you really are
Find that Love inside yourself and then forward it in an unending flow..
It's unconditional..
For if it doesn't reach one it will reach the other
And the one that was left behind it will reach him too in it's own time.

The choice is now..

Love is all there is
Love is your essence

Be true to yourself-- if you cant be true to you, whi can you be true to?

The wise me of India say that the moment of your death is detirmined at birth, so why worry, you cant leave till the day and time of your return ticket.
No one can alter that -- so why worry?

There is no enemy powerfull enough to dispatch you earlier than that--so why worry?

Live every moment in appreciation of the life that you have been given.

With Love

Thank you, mudra, thank you, Chris, for your wise and inspiring words. Yes, it is a simple but powerful exercise to be aware that every moment could be the last one of our life.

For me this became meaningful, when one day my brother-in-law suddenly got a very serious stroke in his brain. All of a sudden he simply fell on the floor, having lost his consciousness. He was in coma for some days, had to be operated on his brain, survived miraculously and recovered mostly. The doctors later told us that nearly 90 % of patients sustaining such a heavy stroke die.

And yes, Chris, I firmly believe that we don't have to fear anything or to worry about death. Sometimes, it just helps me to cope with my laziness by reminding myself that my time here on earth is limited. We all have something to do here on earth, we have a contract so to say, and it would be foolish to lose time.

Love and blessings,

Now.
It is all about the NOW.

The only time there ever is.
Why waste it mulling over what has or will happen(ed)?

I love you, mudra.
Knowing we are inhabiting the same plane makes me happy.

I read this article a long time ago about an interview with a hospice worker who had a lot of experience working with the dying. (Sorry, don't remember the names and date.)

He said something that stuck with me. "I hardly ever meet people who regret all the things they've done. It's much more often that I meet people who regret things they didn't do!"

So I was meditating on this and I asked, if I died right now, what would be my biggest regret? Almost before I even finished the question, like a thunderbolt, the answer came to me as clear as a bell "You would regret most, that you never truly realized how powerful you are!"

I don't think I am unique in this, I think we all often forget that we are much more powerful than we give ourself credit for.

It's so much easier to just go along with the crowd, instead of choosing to create a unique and purposeful life.
Far easier to fall into victim consciousness than to stand up and claim what is our birthright and choose to create a life of passion, beauty and joyous wonder.

I have been guilty of thinking too much of my past or future.
This always made me unhappy.
When I started living in the moment and letting go,
I felt that a great weight had lifted.
Although it does take patience, balance,
and determination to hold steadfast in faith,
I have learned that each step I take in the present
makes the journey more rewarding or productive.

Wonderful advice and it shall teach you to cherish your time on this Earth but also to not fear about what happens after you pass on.

Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery,
but TODAY is a GIFT,
that's way they call it THE PRESENT.

In effect, each moment is your last.
You will not get to repeat any moment ever. (no mulligans)
As each moment passes, a new one is born...a new chance to shine.

Excellent thread all.
