GM "Magic Seeds" Road To Disaster For Indian Farmers

Using traditional cotton seeds has been a way of life for farmers in India for many generations...now their crops are being threatened by GM "magic seeds" which the giant bio-tech companies such as Monsanto (operating now in India and other countries worldwide) claim will vastly increase the farmer's yields and profit.

The opposite has proved to be the case as GM cotton seeds are susceptible to "boilworm" a voracious parasite. These seeds also require double the amount of water than traditional seeds and with the rains failing for the past 2 years (drought conditions) these GM crops are withering and dying. Another problem is that these so-called "magic seeds" have terminator technology in-built within the seed...meaning they are unable to reproduce and produce viable seeds for another year's crop. This means of course the farmer has to purchase another year's supply of GM seeds at ridiculous prices a thousand times higher in cost for the amount of seeds bought than the traditional cotton seeds.

Farmers are suffering staggering losses and commiting suicide in their thousands leaving their families landless and destitute...children forced to work at slave labour...lowest of the low.
This genocide is a global situation where these giant bio-tech companies are operating especially if Mother Nature decides not to co-operate with the new GM "magic seeds".
