Re: are you having problems posting
I sent Noela a private message.
I don't think she'll see it otherwise. Who is going to be online for a while to help with this? I'm going to bed soon. Gareth has not been online today so I haven't been able to talk to him about this. |

Re: are you having problems posting
Done all that!
Gareth hopefully will resolve it. I posted today and it didn't even enter 'new posts', and it's soooo important for Faraday-cage makers. And that's all thanks to Antaletriangle after all this time!!! Get making - it's easy now!!! http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/s...35&postcount=1 Circumnavigating probs then!! Last edited by Avid; 05-14-2009 at 08:54 PM. |

Re: are you having problems posting
I click to open a thread and get booted back to the list of new posts? Sounds like some tweaking needs to be done.

The change that Gareth made now makes a difference in "new posts" and "today's posts." To see something you just posted, it is now a two click step instead of one. Using Avalon Electric forum skin On the top right side click "Quick Links" from the drop down menu the first option is "Today's Posts" The Faraday cage thread has now moved to page 2. http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=1086 "New Posts" Brings up a different set of postings now as described by Alyscat. http://www.projectavalon.net/forum/s...6&postcount=15 The new features are actually the ones I'm used to in vBulletin - partcularly in the electric skin/ Click on New posts and you see the new posts since you last logged on, and then you see posts that are recent that have had changes that you haven't viewed. I'm guessing based on your USER CP designation of how many days to cover. This was the way I did it as a moderator of a pretty active site. (not this one) This has been a delight for me, but for others who are used to something else, probably not so great. This lets me know exactly what has been changed since I last logged on, and at the same time, if I didn't choose to view a thread on my last login, it posts it at the bottom. To get rid of all of it, when you login to the main part (which shows how many users are online) you can choose to mark all threads as read. alys |

Now that we have it figured out it's really simple. Clicking "new posts" gives us a new option to explore. What you used to see in "new posts" shows up with two clicks. "Quick links" then "today's posts" Please let's not be too hard on Gareth. I think he was just trying to make improvements, though I agree it would have been much easier on everyone to have made an announcement with an explanation of how it works. Karen |

Re: are you having problems posting
There appears to have been some issues with the database tables.
This may be a result of when the database went down the other day. I have run a table repair and hope this has fixed the issues with seeing new posts. Regards Gareth |

Re: are you having problems posting
You're welcome Rhythm. I spent the better part of two days on that.
Yep, super thanks to Gareth - once I was able to get ahold of him the issues were quickly resolved. Thanks also to Bushycat and Alyscat for your "aha moment" tips. If we change our names to Karencat and Rhythmcat, do you think we would be more tech savvy? |
