"The amount of poverty and suffering required for the emergence of a Rockefeller, and the amount of depravity that the accumulation of a fortune of such magnitude entails, are left out of the picture, and it is not always possible to make the people in general see this."
-Ernesto "Che" Guevara

A recent report states that the world has nearly a billion starving people. Not only are they starving but the numbers of starving have risen by 40 million.

Not much to worry about unless you are included as one of the starving.

But that attitude of indifference and neglect for the people of the planet has to change. We can't continue to have according to the New York Times:

* In 2000, the top 1 percent of the world's population -- some 37 million adults with a net worth of at least $515,000 -- accounted for about 40 percent of the world's total net worth, according to the report.

* The bottom half of the population owned merely 1.1 percent of the globe's wealth. The net worth of the world's typical person -- whose wealth was above that of half the world's population and below that of the other half --was under $2,200....

So the lie of globalization was that when the rich benefit, the tide would lift all boats. But the only thing that has happened is that the super rich have benefited from governmental protections, de-regulation, payouts, and bailouts while the world's hungry grow.

Sadly this is accepted as the way of the world. The rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer and that is the way it has to be.

But does it have to be this way or are we just conditioned from the corporate media, dumbed down educators, and sell-out politicos to believe that it is the way it has to be?

The answer is obvious and soon the obviousness that the world needs a more equitable distribution of wealth will arise like a tsunami in human thought and feeling. Or else the starving will continue to grow and the rich will become richer--just like we have been trained and programmed to accept.
