Default What do you think of the hologram?

Hey guys, this is my first post to this forum and I'd like to start it off by
asking what do you guys think of the hologram that was aired on CNN?

Here's a video of the hologram:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thOxW19vsTg

Here's an except from the website: http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5j...lspswD9493MSO0

"Bohrman said CNN deliberately made the effect look cheesy so the network's intentions were clear. The eerie white glow around Yellin, in other words, was put in intentionally."

Looks like nothing new under the sun. Only a new name for what the weather people do while standing in front of a blue screen.

As one poster on Youtube stated, Blitzer couldn't see her, the images were mixed in with the recording of him on his set.

Tricks of the light.

Yeah it's pretty cool looking, kinda like princess lea.

"Help me Obi Wan KeBlitzer, you're my only hope!"

But this is just some more shiny technology for us to fawn over.
I remember hearing Tony Hawk (the skateboarder) saying somewhere that he paid $1 million for a home holographic theatre. I'd bet it's hard to find anything shot in hologram though.

Anyway, if this is what they're letting us see, then they must be capable of far greater feets. (i.e; possible holographic 747s)

But a holographic home theatre does sound pretty cool.

Well, nothing special is not completely true....

The trick is the application...

Just imagine this for ONE second:

Osama Bin Laden live Recorded with 37 Cams somewhere in a Cave.
Barack Obama live Recorded with 37 cams in the White House.
Both should be able to speak English...
And talk to Each other WITHOUT being in each others presence.
Mixed together live in a studio somewhere in Europe
and then put on LIVE television...

And have a talk about the gripes that are causing this war people claim we are in...

Oh heaven FORBID that.

I, personally, was surprised. I did not expect to see it being used on CNN at all.

Red face Re: What do you think of the hologram?

Well from what John Lear said that was nothing special. I mean you could tell it was a hologram. They can have a hologram person talking to you and you wouldn't even know. Thats how real they can make them look . They showed us the technology they had like 30+ years ago.

LOL, That is incorrect. There was also a hologram of Wil.I.Am and the person in the studio looks at the hologram and describes how Wil.I.Am appears to him
"IN THE STUDIO".

Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deoOTqT-SMI

This all reminded me of project bluebeam and it impressed me because anyone
that understands the properties of light would know that it needs to reflect off a surface. In the video there is no smoke or screens. The hologram is in mid-air AND is 3 dimensional!

Also, MSNBC also used this technology for virtual reality holographic displays and they actually interact with the hologram. I'll leave that one for you to research though.

To cut a long story short.. Yes, it is an actual 3-d hologram; NOT an image super imposed unto the screen.
