Beauty is a sprinkle of God`s works in universe...it is a signature of his being and essence. We being his dear beloved children have same essence because we are of him and thus we appreciate beauty and we are in tune with it when we see it or create it, then we are the closest to our creator.

No apology necessary Oliver .. a search for the word beauty must be an interesting search...

i was reading a Floral art magazine this morning, an article about a Japanese florist...He mentioned a "way of thinking/being " that is very ancient and based on beauty...

i have been doing ikebana for years...and this sounds very interesting to me

i cannot for the life of me remember the term... ikana? ikelu.....??

any ideas anyone?

...and this

Could be the word " a-wa-re"?

"The traditional meaning of the term seemed to fit the feeling common to both of us. It had a hint of sadness, and at the same time, what could even be called joy. It seemed to me that the feeling suggested an affinity between beauty and sadness."

Hmm..not sure...

it is the japanese art of finding beauty in imperfections ...

i have always found beauty, in the aging flowers, in my fridge...some , no longer valued by the consumer...still offer so much beauty!...the way a color fades as it ages on a petal...stunning!!

thank you Oliver, i will read more

So, there are three words for specific kind of beauty in Japanese tradition:

1. WABI-SABI
2. SHIBUA
3. IKI

A tradition that can develop so much finess in experiencing and expressing the Beauty should be adored...

Beauty is having your grandson look up at you with a big smile while he totally demolished your last tube of lipstick.
Wish I took a picture, it would be a great blackmail photo when he grows up.
