Because the barbarians are coming today and the emperor's waiting to receive their leader. He's even got a scroll to give him, loaded with titles, with imposing names. Why have our two consuls and praetors come out today wearing their embroidered, their scarlet togas? Why have they put on bracelets with so many amethysts, rings sparkling with magnificent emeralds? Why are they carrying elegant canes beautifully worked in silver and gold? Because the barbarians are coming today and things like that dazzle the barbarians. Why don't our distinguished orators turn up as usual to make their speeches, say what they have to say? Because the barbarians are coming today and they're bored by rhetoric and public speaking. Why this sudden bewilderment, this confusion? (How serious people's faces have become.) Why are the streets and squares emptying so rapidly, everyone going home lost in thought? Because night has fallen and the barbarians haven't come. And some of our men just in from the border say there are no barbarians any longer. Now what's going to happen to us without barbarians? I LOVE THE PAINTING !
and yes I am a real woman, or am I ? anyway I am a mother, I have given birth to them both myself. Look at the faces of the men, she is shining so BRIGHTLY that the men are almost blinded by her LIGHT! Her purity, naked skin is too much contrast to their dirty minds... they hide their heads. you want me to go on.... - (I was once one of those Priestesses in Machu Picchu, Egypt, Atlantis... and I do remember what happened to us...but we are coming back even more brighter, stronger in our LIGHT....) (Is this not appropriate, too? Before eventaually removing it, think that this painting is one of the iconic symbols of the state of France, so some French here can charge you for disrespecting their history.)

Sexual content is against the guidelines..The Painting wasnt so much the issue then the highly sexualy charged response it got.
The thread WAS about HONORING women...how ever i do not feel that was YOUR intent. |

I liked the painting Oliver... in fact I lived in Paris for a year and a half, I have seen many like it, including the Liberte one you have posted.
What annoys me most, is no one even mentioned the joke caption about the newpaper and pint of milk trick I placed under it. What a waste I'm slightly surprised that if we're worried about pictures of women on this thread, naked or otherwise, why paste a semi-clad woman in the lotus position (who is seemingly being impregnated by the seeds of a lotus flower?)...because Avalon is full of picture posts.. often by women, of fairies and nymphs in various states of undress.... Where to draw the line... only post the female form in a burka ? Let's not start to have a sense of humour failure about that. |

not such a long time ago celine made a thread about that Love Park in South Korea and invited people to take a walk there...i did...and what I found there was disgusting to me...and now someone is trying to find sexual connotations in the picture or its interpretation? What about The Art of Touch thread? Putting up a photo of a man and a woman in bed, naked??? I feel offended and I couldn't sleep lst night because of it... witchhunt has begun?
