I've read through a number of previous posts in this thread, so I think I've got at least a 'sense' of the variety of project Avalon members contributing here. I'll say a little about myself and my thoughts for all ...

I'm 54; happily married for 30 years; two healthy sons currently working in France ... then there's Stanley, our four legged friend.

Personally ...

... I grew up in a small Ayrshire mining village
... Been involved in mainly technical work throughout my life, including teaching
... I have more of a practical bent than an academic one
... My hobbies ... amateur radio, electronics, astronomy/cosmology
... I worked as a volunteer in Africa in my earlier years
... Been running my own IT services business here for 17 years (one-man-band)
... Have worked in the US, Ireland, Czech Republic

I've reached a stage now, where I feel I want to absorb as much as I can about what lies ahead in the next few years for all of us. I care greatly about my family, and I've been working carefully on how I can/should present to them the information I now possess about 2012 and a number of other related subjects. I am concerned about the practical steps that will be prudent to take over the next few years, and I am also concerned about the quality of the information that seems to be doing its rounds in this regard.

There is a definite case for 'quietly focussed preparation,' as you mentioned in your introductory post Sol. In my view, for a journey of this nature to be ultimately successful, I think that it will come down to a dedicated group of people with relevant skills, having the focus to prepare and execute a well thought out plan. I believe that the goal of communal strength, resilience, and cooperation can be achieved in this way. Like you have said Chris, it's important to be level headed.

Like most people, I am surrounded by the trappings of 21st century life, but time and determination will change that ... there's always a way.

I have a couple of questions ...

... what information sources would people strongly recommend?
... what are the areas of discussion the people think are important to have about becoming organised?

"Power versus Force" and "The Eye of the I" both by Dr David Hawkins.

The raising of consiousness is happening just now and its parmount to our survival, in my humble opinion. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Think its best to tell people only what they can readily accept to begin with.

Most dont really need to know about those who would have a new world order at any cost. The end does not justify the means.

It makes sense to have extra food in -- it makes sense to be as self sufficient as posible, it makes sense to move to higher ground as the sea is rising etc.
Your skills and experience will be of great help to all at Scottish Ground Crew.

I read through your list of skills Pan and I remember what the others have said at the meetings (and I remember the HUGE sense of achievement I felt when at the age of 30 I actually managed to change a plug) and I try to think of any practical skills that I have and I am mentally saying 'oh ****!'

So a small and slightly flippant plea that the qualifications for community entry are not practical assessments.

I do make good bread however!

I’ve been wondering what words to use to respond here, and I’ve decided it’s right for me to say this …

I’m new to this forum and I intend being respectful. I have an inherent need to be as open as I possibly can be in circles that I judge trustworthy. If my natural instincts say that I should accept what comes to me, then I tend to do this rapidly and move on, feeling secure. I most likely have views that others would disagree with, that’s human and natural, so I’ll mention up-front that things I say in the forum could come across as, at odds with, or, controversial in some way. However, my intention is and always will be, to listen to and consider the opinion of others and to speak openly and honestly from the heart … anything other than this diminishes my own words and dishonours the other party.

I understand and agree with what you have said Chris. I believe that some of the toughest decisions and actions we’ll ever face, lie ahead of us, but I have a special feeling inside that everything will turn out okay in the long run for humanity. This thought comes from my ultimate belief in the good within people. I’m not the world’s best socialiser, but I do enjoy and have benefited from, the company of honourable people. I find that they bring much more than what the material world presents to us.

I am not religious in any traditional sense, and I haven’t read any ‘spiritual’ type books in my life, but I have paid attention to people who have had deep and meaningful things to say about the human race and why we’re all here. I have little time for the particular language and behaviours that have evolved within spiritualist type movements, for I think we should be able to communicate our inner feelings adequately enough with the basic abilities we already have. I believe that people who say 'they think in a new way,’ may have been caught up over the years in a tide of conformity with a style of behaviour and communication that actually turns many people off, so can therefore be counter-productive.

Delphi … I’ve recently turned my attention to honing my basic skills in the kitchen, and I think I’m doing not too badly. Over the years, I’ve suffered a bit from the produce of ‘the Czech kitchen!’ because my wife is originally Czech and an excellent cook and baker. My in-laws stay close to us here too, so given that my wife learned her skills from her mother, my mother-in-law, there’s been a cuddly expansion of my waistline over many years of deliciously minor abuse! And … I just love still slightly warm home-baked bread! … and ... I even have to admit to swapping recipes now!

I’ll wrap this short rambling up here.

Spiritual is as spiritual does ie its not about language -- belief systems.
Being kind and considerate is the essence of it -- thats just about all you need.

While I get on well with most people im basically a loner -- I dont really need people, though this is turning out to be a different ball game.

Funnily enough inspite of that I seem to have ended up in leadership situations throughout my life. Nobody else wanted the job

Yep. Its official. I am in a bad mood. Being VERY CASH poor at Christmas sucks (But I am loved, warm and filled with light so youtr right delphi, its not that bad). Being a new jobless at christmas sucks. Knowing a friend inadvertantly led peoples I was trying to avoid to my area sucks. Knowing that now all forms of employment will be hard to get sucks (yes if you tread on toes, references are mighty hard to come by).



Be back in a few weeks. If I don't see any of you before online have a very merry Christmas.

Thanks for the welcome Rab … and thanks Chris for reminding us that it all comes back to ourselves, you too Rab.

These days, I have a sense of contented confidence and an inner feeling of knowing myself that allows me to believe that wonderful things will happen some day. Good people should feel they are already part of a much greater good, and that they always will be. I like what you said in post #158 Chris (as I interpreted it) about us all being at different stages of the same journey. This kind of thinking sums things up nicely for me – it’s a simple and attractive concept.

Chin up Sol ... I know that's an easy statement to make, but there's one thing I believe you can take to the Bank ... and that's the genuine caring thoughts that other members of the SGC have for your frustrations.

Again it's an easy thing to say, but try and think happy thoughts and laugh at the small things that go wrong to keep them in perspective. Continually replaying negative stuff in your head leads to stress and illness - I can tell you.

Sol you are in my thoughts since I read your post. There's all the difference between being CASH poor and BEING poor. You may be the first (in which case join the club!!!)
