Default Two New *stars* (let's call them that)...

Hey guys... We're all from Europe so the location of my news and question doesn't really matter... But...
Has anyone except me noticed two new *stars* that have appeared in the western nightsky in the last couple of weeks... I've been searching the web for some news or info but there's still nothing...
They seem a little too big to just ignore them so I assume the whole subject is being ignored and covered up by the media...
Anybody else have some thoughts on this one?

Hi,

I don't know which ones but I think they are 2 more and more radiant planets from our own solar system.

Cheers

Dude... Thanx for the reply, but just go outside and look at the west (and close to the ground)... If you live in the city it's even more *fun* 'cause you don't see the normal stars ('cause of all the city light), but those two you can see clearly... They are one above the other and they are really glowing bright so you can't miss them...

Hi DragulaROB,

I have noticed these 2 stars for the past 2 weeks. I might have a chance this weekend to take out my telescope and identify them. However, tomorrow, I am camping and spelunking, so time may run out for me if it gets cloudy.

I don't think that's Venus and Mars... Especially 'cause they are not in the western sky and they just don't glow this strong... All I ask is go out for a minute and see it for yourself...
Call me crazy after that, if you will

Hi,

Thanks, I already supposed that it would be the closest to earth planets but was not sure yet.
I have less light pollution here so I can see them for months now ...
Even when the sun is not fully set they already appear. They haven't been so close together all the time btw.
The brightest one (Venus) was more east than Mars at first, so it's orbit should be faster then ...

Cheers

Then you have to tell me what you see because I am not in Europe, it's not dark here yet and cloudy ...

What you described before sounds as 2 planets that I see for months now ...

Cheers

conjunction of Venus, Jupiter and the crescent Moon.

It begins tonight with a sunset stroll.

At the end of the day, when the horizon is turning red and the zenith is cobalt-blue, step outside and look southwest. You'll see Venus and Jupiter beaming side-by-side through the twilight. Glittering Venus is absolutely brilliant and Jupiter is nearly as bright as Venus.

google venus jupiter conjunction, there should be stacks of links

Whenever evening skies are clear this week, take a moment to step outside and catch a glimpse at one of the year's most striking events in the night sky.

Each night, the brilliant planets Jupiter and Venus - now dazzling in the southwestern sky after sunset - will draw closer together.

NASAThey're headed for a spectacular triple conjunction with a very young crescent moon on Monday, Dec. 1 (left). On that evening, Jupiter and Venus will stand just 2 degrees apart in the evening sky - the width of two pinky fingers held at arm's length.

Jupiter - now above and to the left of Venus - will have moved by Dec. 1 to a spot immediately above and to the right of Venus.

The crescent moon will hang just above and to the left of Venus, forming a lovely, delicate triangle.

If skies are clear, the spectacle is sure to grab the attention of anyone who happens to glance that way - evening commuters, dog walkers and folks out for an after-dinner stroll. You won't need to find dark skies. This celestial event will be visible everyplace that isn't clouded in.

It's definately Jupiter and Venus talking to each other at sunset. I've noticed them all week.

The 2 "stars" are Venus and Jupiter I believe. Have you seen the Pleiades's? They come out to the top of the sky after Venus and Jupiter 'set'.

Yes I did, I thought it were ufo's, because they were so bright and big, but if you are from Croatia, and you see them, then it must be stars. And yes, I saw them when I stood in the middle of the city, with all the lights on and I could not see the stars, but only these two and they were very bright.

It could not be Venus or Jupiter, these stars were more big and were white, Venus is little blue/green and flickers, these were quiet, big, bright lights.

Honest they are Jupiter and Venus, remember Venus is an evening and morning star and only is visible for a short while before it rolls over the horizon, and they are both really bright presently so i understand the confusion.
I look up all the time, plenty of 'shooting stars' to see too.

finally an answer to what these two things are, at least it seems like an answer from reading the posts here. thank you all. i have noticed them for about a month. i don't recall seeing them before in this position and so beautifully bright. from new orleans they appear in the same sky position and with the same intensity as in bucharest, so i dont believe geographic location matters. they sure look nice!

Venus is typically best seen at sunset and sunrise. The rest of the time it gets lost in the stars.
