Default Something to digest and think about

None of the following things which we consider to be essential to living, had been invented 150 years ago:

Cars, refrigerators, radios, AC electricity, telephones, television, PCs and the internet.

PCs became available 40 years ago while the internet has only been available to the public for 20 years. TV has been available for 80 years. Radios have been available for 120 years. Cars have been available only in the last 125 years. Telephones came into existence some 135 years ago. AC electricity has only been around for 115 years. Refrigerators have been available for 116 years.

To put it into perspective, four and five generations back, these thing were not in existence or the earliest inventions were only just becoming available. That's going back to your great, great, grandparents and possibly their parents.

Or, another point of view - 96% of the time since Christ was born, these things were unavailable.

We have a lot to re-learn about living life as it was lived for thousands of years.

It still is where I live Kosams - even water doesn't flow away, it just evaporates.

I'd rather not live in a time without any of these inventions.

I would prefer to see newer, possibly hidden technologies make these current technologies obsolete.

On the other hand, we're still using some of the original ideas, like the wheel, the bow and arrow, wearing furs, using spears, and whatever else has survived the test of time.

let us not forget good

old fashioned morals and manners

like givin up a seat for an elderly ect

and holdin open a door ...

smillin at people on the street

knowin your neighbours

im a bit of topic here ...

but it feels appropriate tho...

the message being

one of simple pleasure

and conection to our brothers and sisters

in sharing , rather than out doing ...

and the im ok jack of today

trying to practice random act of kindness me self

lovin it makes me all warm n fuzzy

I have often wondered what it would be like without technology, i love every new gadget when it comes on the market.
I would say though there not all good for you, re;mobile phone, microwaves and such but all technology is exciting i feel.

On the UK TV we have been shown a documentary type program where a family of the 21st century take up residence in a Victorian home, they dress, eat and live of those times.
They also had the Victorian farm, which showed how they actually farmed the land everything was done by hand, very hard work for labourers.
The outcome of that documentary was that the family loved it so much no child missed the TV, their computers or mobile phones.

In the Victorian home though the maid did all the work while the masters of the house had an easy time of it.

Right Dan, if something works, and it's simple, why replace it with something else?
