New Hurricane Season, somewhat morbid
I'm including these articles, topic last year's Hurricane Ike. Don't know what we will be dealing with this year, but thought these could be some morbid reminders. Anyway, keep safe.

Friday, October 10, 2008 Ike's death toll By the latest count, there were 36 Texans whose deaths were attributed to Hurricane. In the United States, there were 72 total. There were about 80 in the Caribbean before Ike hit the U.S. Yet, there are other deaths that were likely linked to Ike. Here is a list locally of those died of from Ike or in the aftermath. (There have been others in Galveston and Houston areas who have died from Ike's wrath, too.) Sept. 12: Gary Schweinle, 52, of Anahuac, was electrocuted while attempting to secure his roof the day before Ike hit. Sept. 17: A 19-year-old woman, of Port Arthur, died in a fire that occurred when an older man was lighting a generator inside while she held a candle for light in the 1900 block of Neches Avenue. Sept. 23: The body of Gail L. Ettenger, 58, of Gilchrist, was found in Chambers County. She last heard from about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 13 when she called a friend to say the water was rising fast. She worked at ExxonMobil Beaumont Refinery Laboratory as a Kelly Scientific Resources employee assigned there. Sept. 27-28: The body of Herman "PeeWee" Thomas Moseley, 48, of Gilchrist, was found on Goat Island. He last heard from Sept. 12 by phone as the water was rising. Sept. 28: Greg Walker, 41, of Port Neches, was found by volunteer searchers. He was missing from between Bridge City and Rainbow Bridge since 1-2 a.m. the morning Ike hit. His body was found about a mile away from his truck. Oct. 7: A fifth body was found on Goat Island, an unihabited island just north of Bolivar Peninsula. Four of the five have not been identified. Moseley was the one who has been identified.
