I used to fast every Wednesday. The more we control the desires of the flesh and use that time to focus spiritually, the more opportunity we give ourselves to stay attuned to the Divine. Many use fasting to just go without, when I think the best thing is to go within. Some can do this without fasting, but most of us are way too physically focused and fasting is a great way to teach our bodies that the spirit is stronger. I have been thinking of fasting again on a regular basis, and I am giving up certain things to bring my body under control. Fasting need no be total, it can be limited, but always verify with your doctor if you have health issues.
