Hello Migp,

Be safe my friend!

Can you give us an idea of how the population is handling Hugo Bringing Russian forces and weapons into Venezuela.

I'm afraid at this point, the borders are closed to most Americans...

I've been there before, the country is almost as beautiful as the women...

A todos los venezolanos que visitan este foro, seria bueno enseñar a la gente todos estos temas importantes y conseguir paginas en español para que las personas les sea mas facil estudiar estos temas.

Chamo,

I always loved Venezuela, I'm from Colombia, and I've been looking to relocate there for a while!!!

What can I do?? Let me know about the community in process!!! Thanks!!! I would also say Veneuzela *might be* a safer place for any south american citizen rather than for Americans, if the latters are afraid of Hugo Chavez's policies.

Yet, Venezuela has an excellent whether, and going inland (if you're afraid of what might happen to the coasts near the Atlantic ocean) you will find places where you can make communities??

Waiting for replies,

Thanks

I live in Venezuela, on Isla de Margarita, which is in the Caribbean just off the NE coast of the country. Born and raised in the USA, I've spent time in Mexico and Canada. I moved here almost 2 years ago; I decided the US was not a good or safe place to be, for me anyway. My experience and background are in "alternative" agriculture and building, with an emphasis on local and sustainable.
I looked at the whole world and chose Venz because of the climate, varied terrain, and vast untapped resources.

I looked seriously at Russia, which also has vast resources, but the climate and language in S America was easier for me. Then I looked at S Am in general, at first being drawn to Argentina, but it turned out to be run by the same crew of needy psychopaths running the US, Europe and all of the British Commonwealth. Venezuela won out on untapped resources plus the fact that it was a center of change; whatever opinion one has about Hugo and his Bolivarian Socialism it is a change.

I have no regrets about moving here; I like the climate and get along with the people. It is in no way or form an enlightened society; purely materialistic and superstitious, consumer oriented. Around 90% of everything consumed is imported, something that is easy enough to do right now with lots of oil and drug money flowing through. It will be a real challenge when that dries up, but I still think the climate and resources are of great advantage.

Though the so-called populist government is thoroughly corrupt, they are mostly only interested in lining their own pockets and continuing to do so, as opposed to the USA where the government is an active enemy of the people. For the most part, Venezolanos can't be bothered to put out that kind of effort.

I have read about the US ambassador being told to leave, and a couple of days ago about two Human Rights Watch leaders being deported. I've discussed it briefly with some locals, but I haven't encountered any hostility personally. They laugh about Chavez for the most part, and for most their dream would still be a condo in Miami. Hugo will bluster and shoot off his mouth whenever he thinks he can get some press from it, but he's still dependent on the USA to buy his oil and for a major portion of the country's imports. Don't look for the present government to last much longer. Considering the times we are in, it may be replaced with something slightly better or worse, or simply degenerate into chaos along with the rest of the world. The latter is coming soon enough, I think.

Again, I like the country and get along well. If the N hemisphere gets too much radiation in the wind, the equator is only a few hundred miles south. Much of the continent's resources are untouched.

Most of the population is asleep and struggling with everyday life...
Be intuitive and find a place within the US...lots of people are doing just that right now.

Take care

Thanks for the reply. I do feel safe on Isla de Margarita though.

The highest point in Florida is 30m, on Margarita 1000m.

Let's make this thread more interesting ;-)
Question:
Are you guys organizing any "radiant zone" or "ground crew"?
I read about "SpeedAdict" community, that sounds very interesting.
SpeedAdict, can you tell us how you and your friends organized everything?

Hola a todos,

I thought I was the only Venezuelan here. It's a wonderful surprise that this thread opened up.

I'm in Caracas. Any Dzogchen practitioners?

The solution is spiritual.

Hola Alicia-

I agree. Como cambiar el mundo, cambia su conciencia.

But at the same time we must eat. I am concerned about the food. On Margarita prices are going crazy; yesterday I saw cebollas (onions) for 15.90 Bs/kilo. Two months ago they were 3-5 Bs. Right now there is plenty of food (except coffee, no coffee in the stores and I love coffee), but how could a poor obrero feed their family on 40 Bs a day with food at these prices? And with the oil going down down down? BsF/$ today is 5.75:1. Ouch.

I am trying to get people interested in growing food, but no one seems interested. I have a lot of plants started in little pots on the patio, tomate, pimenton, ahi, patilla, and I have friends with land where I can have a siembra (garden) but they don't want to help. Growing food is for campesinos, you know. I think there is a lot of food right now because of the election, so things look good, but after November....

The people do not know what is coming.
