I do believe we've been rescuing carmakers on and off since 9/11. Up until now with no oversight. When we rescue, the money that goes into the rescue comes out of each and every one of our pockets, ultimately. I, for one, am glad to see some oversight happening. Would that they'd done it with banking years ago. This grand rush to deregulate has cost us in a major way.
I know that my opinion will not be well received by some people on the forums, so be it. Business is, by it's very nature, sociopathic, and requires some form of oversight, as it cannot or will not oversee itself in it's great run to make as much money as possible in the short term for it's investors. (which is not to say that there are not organizations, usually smaller and family owned, who have a sense of fiscal/social responsibility - I acknowledge that.) alys |
