Has anyone had any experience(s) with the shamanic practice of recapitulation - the total recall of your life?
If yes, can you share any tips and guidance for getting started and overcoming any difficulties? Getting started is hard - just attempting to remember every person that had a marked influence on you in a very specific phase of your life (e.g., a trip) is already very difficult! |

I read the Teachings of Don Carlos a few years ago, after which I made an attempt at starting recapitulation...
I find that even though Sanchez tries to present a lot more practical material there are still many small but significant details left out. E.g., what thoughts to focus on or manifest, what breathing techniques to use, body positioning, preparations, actions, attention focus, etc... That is, all related to recapitulation. And then there is the whole issue with constructing your 'recapitulation box'. ![]() |

Hiya,
what breathing techniques to use(like in other meditation techniques , timed breath, relaxation, calmness) , body positioning (anyway that you "feel" most comfortable), preparations(have a pencil & or a pen & writing paper or pad), actions (START WRITING!!!), attention (first things first) focus,(intent) etc.. write about home(1st-present),family(feelings about each=momma-great-uncle parker-granPa etc.) in -flu -in -tial people in your life til NOW( bobby buntrock popped me in the nose at 10 yrs old)( the ones who "harmed" you, write about "your" part in it, eg were you teaseing him a few days prior ^I^) til "current", (this is about you,and "YOUR" "attacthments")(NOT THEM!!) in essencess (how did what happen from/to ,he, she, them or it , effect "you") no blame ; it is "your" life ,that is "going" "THRU" your mind, in order to "Recapitulate" "Before" passing on to, whatever (does this make any sence) if not ^I^ (shrug) Recapitulation is like a "true" 4th step, in a "Bill W." 12 step program, dig it or don't Ilove you leho ![]() Last edited by lehomonuka; 09-16-2008 at 09:27 AM. |

Such an interesting topic here. I've done recapitulation without knowing the word. The end result is understanding that you are not anything that anyone, including yourself, has ever said you are. What you discover is your programming, how your thoughts, habits, beliefs, have been given to you by others. If you focus on one belief and follow it back you will find who/where it comes from. If you don't like the effects it's having in your life, you can change it. I'm not saying that changing beliefs is easy, though. We've spent a lifetime practicing certain attitudes and beliefs. It requires a conscious intent to practice a new belief to make it real, but over time it does become real.
One example: love and pain. These were connected in my life. I disconnected them and through meditation and journaling found all the sources that had taught me that. I dealt with them in meditation, cutting bonds, handing back contracts of pain, expanding contracts of love. I used affirmations and practiced paying attention to my thoughts. Now love is love and has no pain in it. I do not accept any such definition of love. |

Hi Nik,
Here is a link for you http://cleargreen.org/. You'll find out by joining one of the workshops. If you want i can tell you how it is, that's one thing, but knowing by own experience it's something else. Good night and good luck. |

I still feel that I do lack the insight that a formal recapitulation would provide, hence the initial request. ![]() |

Hi
I did a recapitulation and continue it-- however-- there are several phases to it and be prepared to go into the Mystery-- Starting the recapitulation is hard and go with where your heart is taking you, I wrote down every school I went to, every house I had lived, every member of my family, as well as relationships. its very real, very powerful. make sure you eat well and can give up coffee etc it does make a difference. the book best suited to learn more about recapitulation is the Sorcerers crossing by taisha abelar be sincere dont dabble with it keep the Creator in the center of yoru being and try not to take yourself too seriously |
