World's Tallest Building Opens in Dubai
The Burj Dubai, the world's tallest building, opens on Monday in the United Arab Emirates after five years of construction with a formal ceremony opening the Armani Hotel. Emaar, the largest real estate developer in the Middle East, placed the order to build the skyscraper, which was handled by the construction arm of Samsung C&T Corporation. Emaar has kept the exact height of the Burj Dubai a secret, other than that it is more than 800 m and 160 stories tall. But it is certain that the skyscraper will surpass Taiwan's Taipei 101 (101 stories, 508 m) to become the world's tallest building. The total cost of construction was around US$20 billion. Samsung said Emaar is not directly connected to Dubai World's debt problems and that there will be no problems in collecting the construction fees. Just another waste of money and resources in a desert like Dubai.
Their downfall rests on their abuse of excess. |

I can't help but wonder the GOOD all that money could have done for less fortunate people of the world! It is a disgusting waste of wealth and resources!
