Where all 4 parts of the larger cross meet in the centre there is an equal sided cross (at 45 degrees) also which is very much like the ones shown here...

Maybe it is signifying some sort of double cross?
Why they don't just write in text on the fields so we could all get the message correctly rather than wasting our times 'trying' to work out what they mean
