Hi Orthodoxy - Thanks to our friend, RedeZra I got a link to
a video "Unholy Communion" - Joe Jordan (on YouTube) and
from this a link to the July 2009 Christian Symposium on Aliens.
No material from this on the website, but a formidable list
of speakers. Thought this might interest you.
I am particularly interested in Dr. Michael Heiser, who has a
PhD in Hebrew Bible nd Semitic Languages and has taught and
researched biblical theology and ancient Near Eastern religions.
On the website
www.divinecouncil.com he gives excerpts
of his dissertation on "Divine Council" - in which he argues
that the O.T. shows there is a heirarchy of divine beings,
with Yahweh at the head.
My understanding is that the dissertation is still in draft form
and is intended later for a book. The excerpts themselves
take quite a bit of getting through! Can't say I feel o.k.
with all his reasoning, but it is interesting, and, of course,
he is referring to the original Hebrew throughout.
I have been breezing through the excerpts in the hope that
he might address yours, and my problem with the cruel,
angry Yahweh of the O.T. - but so far that has not come up.
However, I am delighted to have found an O.T. scholar
who is prepared to move beyond the normal bounds of
academia. Some of the other speakers listed at the
Symposium will also be worth looking into.
So - there is another something for you much researching!
