If you wish to check out the oldest mountains in the world, try visiting the Appalachians. There are intentional communities in N. Carolina, lots of them. The weather is Southern soft. The trees are magnificent. There are four seasons. There is lots of clean water from springs. Asheville is great, including the surrounding area. I found it to be more expensive than North Georgia, so I'm a little further south. (I didn't want to overextend myself while still raising children.) Try googling north carolina intentional community and see what you get. Good luck.
