The theory to planet rotation has been proposed by the ice core surveys which indicated that the Artic completly melted in 2 years and then re-froze suggesting that due to some magnetic interference it rotated to the equator then returned.
George Green explained that due to the centrifugal force of the spinning earth that the sea a the equator is 400 feet deeper.

It is thought to be a cyclic event that happens every 3,600 year and we are now due. Bob Dean thinks about 2017.
