Hey N, on the first page of this thread in the fifth link you provided, it says that when comets stray to close to Jupiter, they are torn apart by the strong gravity of Jupiter and when pieces are than strung out along the orbital path and hit an object like Callisto (one of Jupiters moons), the sequence of impacts produce a crater chain, does that not explain it? It's in the fifth link and the last paragraph in the link. And that's my two cents LOL! I mean if you've got thousands or tens of thousands of pieces, isn't it possible that some can line up.
