Hawass is not an authority figure for me at all. In fact I think that he is paid for misinforming or even disinforming public. In this video That guy clearly says that Hawass and the other guy( I forget his name) say that these are all natural formations.

I once watched a documentary, in which he was attempting to prove that the Egyptian pyramids were built by slaves and the stone blocks were pulled up with huge ropes...He vehemently rejected any other theory...
