You can't make an attempt to eliminate something unless you perceive yourself as separate from it.We are part of it,so by working on ourselves we uplift the whole. The idea of us against them is what causes our suffering.There is nothing to eliminate or attack because darkness can not be destroyed, only transmuted. Its like wanting to see the stars without the darkness of night. The Sol ution is light. Thats' my two cents.
