I think it's important to note that it is believed the "blue dude" more than likely did not use pure silver, but silver that had other properties to it, and thus turned blue.

Many anti-colloidal silver sites use the "you will turn blue" or "The whites of your eyes will turn blue" to scare people. Properly prepared colloidal silver is not known to turn you blue.

Also, the bible references healing waters being kept in silver vessels. Silver is a natural anti-bacterial agent. I've used it for years.
