They will use a vaccine with genetically modified viruses that attack only certain gene types. It is a race specific bioweapon. The viruses are designed to lay dormant in the human body until a protein marker is introduced through other vaccines at a later date to activate the GM Virus. They do it this way for many reasons. One of them being there is no proof that the protein marker vaccine that you receive has any evidence of foul play.
