It has visual and audio mode. As a defensive weapon it
is an unfair advantage. Slung underneath the barrel of
a shotgun, ear plug disengages the LED display and you
get a geiger counter tone in your ear when it points at
heat. Steady tone means shoot. Here it is!

All you'd need would be a thin opaque screen to sit behind to allow the heat sensor to do it's thing. It could
also be used offensively, but would require much practice
to sort out false positives. This also has the visual/infrared laser pointers which are bright enough to use as an illuminator. Used by a spotter/ sniper team
mounted on a spotter scope it would be bad news. It emits nothing unless you turn on the laser. Not bad for
off the shelf.
