For over 5,000 years, Chinese ate almost every meal with garlic, onion and soy. They are still living and populated all over the world with over 1/5 of the population on this planet. As a matter of fact, just recently WHO publish that the #1 place with Life expectancy at birth is Macau overtake Hong Kong from last year, which are both 99% Chinese populations and eating garlic almost in every meals. Along with the history, it is a testimony much better than any handful of experiments/clinical studies put together.
If the cost is trading off with a temporary slower processing time with your CPU, vs. all the other positive benefits comes along. It is an easy call to make, do not eat garlic before any critical mission which requires freeing up 100% of your processing speed. Otherwise, I think it is overreacting to alarm people to stay away from garlic.
As far as the brain dead part, I do know many bright Chinese mind capable to process complex task after a big bowl of garlic noodles.
If garlic is a poison that constitutes part of the ingredient to keep me last longer, it is a risk I wouldn't mind taking.
