I know what you mean. I was pretty dissillusioned by the whole sorry process, that I tuned out from the mainstream news long ago.
I have no misconceptions about the motives of politicians either.
But I felt the same thing you did, just a bit later.
I drove home at about 1:00 a.m. CST, and there were kids in the streets banging on pots and pans like it was new years'. Seriously.
I started to feel something different, and "dear prudence" came on the old sat. radio, and I'll admit that I cried a bit as well. I'm a grown man (26 qulaifies I guess) and I haven't cried in awhile.
It was never about the politics of course, it's all about the people, for me anyway.
