If it were a helicopter or a plane, once it turned and was flying away you would only see the flashing red and green lights that are on the wings. You only see landing lights when they are flying towards you.
Glad you clarified about the balloons because the first time I watched this that was what I was focusing on and thought there was nothing to this.
