Yeah, i heard the same thing too. She was quite a controversial individual.
One thing that made back off much was that Alan Greenspan (ex Fed boss)

was one of her friends sometime in her life. She lived in extreme poverty in her youth, that could explain her behaviour.
But it seems there is something in her message that overall IS empowering for humanity.
The message i got from her interview, was to get rid of our programmed need to depend on any institution (organised religions or whatsoever) to live a happy and confortable life.
She told there is no limits to your well-being but only the ones that you create.
She is human, and had weaknesses like all of us.
